🚨🎙️Interviewer: “Paul, how do you explain Borussia Dortmund rejected offers reportedly around £75+million from Chelsea and Manchester United, only for Manchester City to eventually sign Erling Haaland for around £51 million?” 🗣️Paul Scholes: “That’s exactly what I don’t understand. Chelsea and Manchester United were reportedly prepared to pay significantly more, yet City somehow get the player for £51 million. And people expect me to sit here and pretend that doesn’t raise questions? Manchester City have spent years pushing the boundaries of what is acceptable in football. If the financial charges against them are proven, then the punishment has to mean something. You can’t just give them a fine and move on. Send them to League Two. Fine them £50 million. Strip the titles if sporting advantage is established. Make the punishment serious enough that every club understands the rules actually mean something. And before City fans start shouting at me — I’m not saying Haaland himself did anything wrong. I’m questioning how a player of that level ends up moving for that figure when other clubs were reportedly prepared to pay much more. Football fans deserve transparency. Because if everything is completely innocent, explain it. If it isn’t, then stop protecting the biggest clubs and punish them properly.” 🎙️Interviewer: “You really think Manchester City should be relegated to League Two?” 🗣️Scholes: “If the most serious allegations are proven and the rules allow it, why should Manchester City be treated differently from anybody else? Being Manchester City shouldn’t give you immunity from the rules.”
