Linux on the M6 Mac Mini, Day 5 - success!
Omarchy is installed on the Mac Mini's hard drive. It boots, it runs.
Still bringing up accessories, including Ethernet and GPU, so my work's not done, but 5 days from the macOS About screen to the Omarchy About screen isn't bad!

Swapped MediaPipe for onnxruntime on ARM and fixed camera stalls and detection. Small tested patches are up for review. Ayan, would love your eyes on them. @OmarchyMac

Got Linux GPU acceleration working on an Apple M4 Pro
Shoutout to @AuroraSilicon and @tiredkebab for some of their work.
Got Omarchy running on my MacBook M4 Pro, natively. Wifi, keyboard/touchpad, etc all work, just working on GPU acceleration still

We have our own Linux kernel for Apple Silicon covering M1, M2, M3 and MacBook Neo machines now for @omarchy with external monitors, thunderbolt docks, Touch ID.

I could not wait anymore. I'm installing Omarchy on my M1 MacBook Pro. After using Omarchy every day on my work laptop and my desktop for over a year, macOS feels like a constant state of chaos and confusion. Feels like working in glue.

Someone handed their agent my omarchy-apple-dev repo. 10 minutes later it had built and notarized a macOS app on a Linux machine.
It passed Apple review.
No Mac needed to ship to the Mac App Store.

Touch ID support for Linux on Apple Silicon is finally shipping soon!
It’s been a while since I got Secure Enclave driver working, huge props to @SiliconForested & team for taking over and making it reliable and work across more machines. Also wouldn’t have been possible without all the other contributors who tried it on early and submitted PRs.
We’re also shipping more complete Thunderbolt support & hot-pluggable external displays and all sorts of accessories, building on top of Asahi’s incredible basic USB4/Thunderbolt support.
This is JUST the beginning. Much more exciting stuff coming. All new Macs are getting covered as we speak. Long-standing issues like power management are also being tackled.
I've never been more excited to hit merge on a PR than I was for this one. 🎉
It took 15 people on five continents to get here.
@jondkinney kept a branch alive for almost a year. @tiredkebab's fork pushed the idea further. Then came a lot of long conversations with @maralcbr and @bi9kahuna to get it over the line.

I'm sitting at work right now on my XPS 16, remote session into my Omarchy box at home which is a 2020 iMac. That machine is connected via usb to a Macbook Air while a team of agents works to get Omarchy running natively on the M4. Good times.

We are bringing online new hardware at an incredible pace thanks to AI (SI?) and strong team work from both the Omarchy M Team and the Omarchy Mac community at large.
27 releases (19 stable), 553 commits, 31 PRs (17 merged) across iconidentify/aurora-linux + aurora-silicon/linux, 24 people involved
5 days of Aurora (Linux on Apple Silicon) kernel work, Oct 1–6:
- one kernel for every Apple Silicon Mac now. M1, M2, M3 and the MacBook Neo all run the same build
- M3 landed: M3 (💪 Eryk) Pro built-in display + GPU
- 12.0: M3 Pro external displays, USB-C on all 3 ports + HDMI at 4K, three screens at once
- one m1n1 boot loader for every Mac
- Thunderbolt docks on M1/M2 Pro & Max, two monitors per dock, Studio Display brightness
- Touch ID on more M1/M2 Macs, plus reset/enrol fixes
- Neural Engine on M1 Max & M2 Max, MacBook Neo Wi-Fi, video decode on by default
- M3 Air bring-up underway with remote testers
