“It didn’t bother you the others times you let me walk out of it, or the times you messed up and seemed not to care. I can’t keep doing this over and over again.”

“Are you ever going to change like you say you’re going too? We’ve been doing this for years and it’s always the same thing, you need to work on yourself.”

“You think that risking your job, your license, getting into fights is the way to win me back? That’s not the way Conrad and you know it.” Lucky the glass window was separating them at the very minute.

“I’m a grown woman if someone is saying bad things about me then I can handle it myself, I’d rather handle it then you risk your job.” She’s taking a deep breath now, keeping her eyes on him.

“It doesn’t matter Conrad, are you trying to put your license on the line? One mistake like a fight and it could be gone for good.”

“What else would I be talking about? It wouldn’t be to tell you to stop saving a patient unless it was absolutely necessary.”

“Whatever you’re doing you have to stop Conrad.” She was serious and the look on her face proved it, even if she was standing behind the glass window.

On cup number 6 now, waiting for her shift to end.

How she got stuck working night shift is a mystery to her but here she is, drinking her 4th cup of coffee.
