Nearly 20 years since the (so far) successful campaign against Shannon LNG in Ireland began.
On Wednesday, the Govnt plans to pass the Planning and Development Bill 2023 into Law, potentially reversing that good work.
@FutureproofC @love_leitrim @ExtinctRebelsIE
Important letter in IT today on the undemocratic Planning and Development Bill 2023 due to pass into law this Wednesday.
Most urgently, it will pave the way for 'strategic' carbon-polluting infrastructure projects such as Shannon LNG.

🌍New landmark climate case:
This morning, Community Law & Mediation, alongside a grandfather, a youth climate activist, and a child were granted leave to proceed with a landmark court case challenging inadequate Government action on climate change.
This case, which argues that inadequate action on climate change is a human rights violation, is the first of its kind in Ireland.

This is exactly what Dublin Airport is doing
It doesn't include emissions from flights in its climate impact framework
Utterly ludicrous and harmful
Congrats @staygroundednet on the important win!

This is what Dublin Airport management are doing also, a semi state body misleading the public by not including flights in its environmental PR. Congratulations to these groups in the UK for getting these ads banned.
Big news: the Advertising Standards Agency has banned this Luton airport advert 👇
The advert claims that the proposed expansion will adhere to strict environmental limits... but these limits don't include emissions from the flights themselves.

Brilliant turnout this evening showing how angry Dubs are at threats to keep the city car-choked and congested.
Thanks to all of you who came along - And to @DublinCommuters for organising (+ great speeches)
We just hope CEO Shakespeare will hear us & implement the FULL plan!

Glad to get reply from Oireachtas Transport Committee and look forward to hearing when they will invite climate experts and young people to speak about the impact of increased flight traffic and emissions from any lifting of Dublin Airport passenger cap @gerryhorkan @FFFireland

The pressure is working, we’ve received word from @hazechu that DCC CEO Richard Shakespeare will make time to meet with us
We’re still Protesting on Monday 🪧
We need to ensure the meeting goes ahead, & that he understands he represents the people of Dublin, not the Car Parks

How can the CEO of a state-owned company, @DublinAirport, continue to get away with such misleading statements about the climate impact of airport expansion? Their own planning application shows CO2 growing by 22%.

In response to mothers protesting against airport expansion, Dublin Airport said it has plans to cut GHGs by 51%.
But this target only covers ground operations, not flights.
It’s utterly deceptive.
Expanding flights will increase GHG emissions.
