6 years since the first idea, 3 years since the POC, 2 years of insane production - and we got us a game out! Making UNDERDOGS demanded a lot of faith, and a healthy measure of irresponsiblity. Nothing about this project trivial - the scale and complexity, amount of never-done-befores, short time tables, and our team’s humble experience and size. Many moments in this production forced us to wonder if we bit off more than we could chew. But every time we just doubled down, tripled down, quadrupled down. The entire team was 100% all-in, at great personal, professional and financial risk. It was the only way to make this happen. Religious level faith? Yes sir. Irresponsible? Guess so. But playing safe leads nowhere interesting, and by God we want more interesting stuff in VR and in our culture as a whole! With that we want to thank everyone who supported us patiently as we kept charging wrecklessly forward, and ask forgiveness from whoever our obsession with this game put a strain on. Boom or bust, launching this title was a hell of a ride, but I mean, JESUS F CHRIST! You know?! Can we get shitfaced already?

This is UNDERDOGS For The Poor. A weekly series that's become a pillar of our community and maketing efforts. We thought we'd share how and why for the benefit of other VR devs. Its rules are simple. Want the game for free? Make a video convincing us you deserve it, and every week we choose 4 winners and post a video commenting on their submissions in TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. This started as an effort to get to know our players, but it ended up being much more: ✅ Through the video submissions, we get to know our community, what they like and what they are like. ✅ The community gets to know and validate itself by seeing the winners and discussing in the comments. ✅ We have a weekly channel of direct communication with our community where we can mess around and have stupid fun. ✅ It encourages fan-art and other media about UNDERDOGS to be posted on socials. ✅ We give fans who can't cash it up a chance to win the game and a reason to stay interested. This current VR market is an unstructured headless chicken - everybody's gotta figure out how to make it work for them or die.
