An old man once planted a mango tree in front of his house. His neighbours laughed at him. “Why plant a tree at your age? You may never live long enough to enjoy its fruits!” The old man smiled and replied, “I have enjoyed the shade of trees I never planted. Why shouldn't I plant one for those coming after me?” Years later, the tree grew tall and provided shade and delicious mangoes for the entire neighbourhood. The children who once laughed at him now brought their own children to enjoy its fruits. Lesson: Not everything you do must benefit you immediately. Some of the greatest things you can do in life are the things that make life better for others. Plant good seeds today, even if you may not be around to enjoy their fruits. The true measure of a meaningful life is not just what you gain, but what you leave behind.
