The momentum is building! Low Traffic Neighborhoods are such a great tool for quality of life - no one wants cars racing through their neighborhoods.
Thanks @ShaunAbreu for your leadership on this!
World-class cities don’t treat their residential streets like highways.
That’s why my bill will bring low traffic neighborhoods to NYC, creating designs that keep access but stop cars from cutting through. Looking forward to working with @bradhoylman and @NYCCouncil on this!

The street trees & planting not only look great - they're helping London cope with the climate crisis: shade reducing heat when it's hot and SUDS absorbing water in heavy rain.

We're overhauling 116th Street to make your bus faster: 2.5 miles of new bus lanes. Queue jumps that give buses a green light before other vehicles at intersections. Protected bike lanes. 35,000 square feet of new pedestrian space.
This redesign will speed up commutes for more than 65,000 daily bus riders across 10 routes and improve safety for everyone on 116th Street. Because you should be spending less time in traffic and more time enjoying the greatest city in the world.
Faster buses are coming to one of Harlem’s busiest streets.
Our redesign of 116th St will add dedicated bus lanes, updated curb regulations, protected bike lanes, and traffic improvements to speed up buses while making the corridor safer for everyone.

1/ The Lower East Side's busiest street is a one-lane block. Clinton St takes 16,000 cars a day off the Williamsburg Bridge, and 80% of the people living on it don't own a car. I joined @OpenPlans to make the case for a Low Traffic Neighborhood: instagram.com/p/DcmKGT-ADaM/

4 New Yorkers have now been killed in hit-and-runs in 4 different boroughs in just 5 days. This is a systemic problem – and we need systemic solutions, including redesigning our streets to be far safer for pedestrians and cyclists, and real enforcement against dangerous drivers.
