Spiritual life begins with being honest with oneself. One should not say false things merely to impress others. One must be true to one’s own heart. Do not imagine yourself to be greater than you are. You must know where you stand. Self-knowledge does not mean declaring, “I am the Supreme Brahman.” It means understanding where you stand at this moment: How do you behave? How selfish or selfless are you? How good are your attitudes? This honest assessment is the first step towards self-knowledge. Later, when the mind is purified, one may realise the inner Self. But until then, we must intimately understand the self we have built in this world because, if we do not know it, we will not be able to transform it. You cannot resolve or change something you do not truly understand. #SriMspeaks

If customers won't buy your stuff, try asking what they would buy. This sounds obvious, but surprisingly few founders do it, and it often yields valuable insights.

Perhaps the most damaging idea in all of modern business and middlebrow philosophy is Maslow's Pyramid. You know the one that puts "roti, kapda, makaan" at the bottom and "morality, creativity, meaning" at the top. The problem isn't in the existence of those needs. It is that they are arranged in a strict hierarchy. That a "higher" need is felt only when the ones below it are met. The idea has persisted from ancient Greece and India, through the feudal and colonial ages, down to the era of the "global south". Let us aristocrats worry about art and beauty, you just focus on surviving the winter. Unfortunately this silly notion does not survive the barest contact with reality. Everybody has all these needs, simultaneously. The poor have as much capacity to be affected by the plight of wild animals or feel wonder at the sight of a soaring rocket. Love, self-esteem, morality - these are the things that make us human, not what emerges once you ascend from serfdom. The condescending framework not only leads to nonsense like this - "how can India invest in a space program when there isn't enough food?", "how can a poor country focus on tigers when its people live in slums?" - but also business decisions that backfire spectacularly. If you go back a decade when the internet first reached our unwashed masses, the first business plans were all a version of "provide soil information to farmers so they plan crops better". Guess what the farmer first did when he got online? Memes and short videos. The need for entertainment is universal. The need to share with friends is universal. The need to be seen as cool is universal. Because Maslow's needs are not a pyramid - they're a circle.
It is extraordinary that India, still a relatively poor country, can achieve something as selfless as protecting other creatures. We explain how it became remarkably good at animal conservation economist.com/asia/2026/10/0…

As fast as I carefully can. Is what I strive for.
Underrated life advice: Become difficult to rush. The world will pressure you to rush into everything. Rushed decisions. Rushed relationships. Rushed conversations. Rushed timelines. There's power in rejecting that trend. Pause. Slow down. Create space to think clearly.

2,800 years ago, an Indian prayer diagnosed anxiety better than modern psychology: असतो मा सद्गमय । तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय । मृत्योर्मा अमृतं गमय ॥ Lead me from the unreal to the real. From darkness to light. From death to deathlessness. Unreal = Future you’re rehearsing. Darkness = mistaking the story for the Self. Death = every identity that keeps ending.

There are so many seasoned software executives who are completely out of their element with the types of products that will breakout in the next few years. Over the last 20 years, their brains were wired to build apps that deliver value by outputting deterministic results, but AI produces value from probabilistic results. This is such a different way to approach how something should work. Young people who are thinking in this way from the outset will be at a significant advantage -- in the same way they were advantaged when thinking about how products could be social in 2010.

Thats what is Vipassana about. Practising equanimity while being the attention itself. I really loved a teaching there, ‘You cant really stop a craving by aversion to the craving. Only way out is equanimity towards the craving or aversion itself.’

Horrifying. how come the world doesn't know the blasphemy of this political religion? How can humans at such a scale be brainwashed to forget their core identity of being a human first? Just looked at the scale of hindu genocide: Bangladesh 1971 estimated at ~400,000 women raped

Amazing...additionally it soothes sinus and has inflammatory effects too.
Bhrāmarī Prāṇāyāma uses a sustained humming exhalation to create vibration throughout the head and body. In this experiment, I observed my hum through cymatics and EEG. The water repeatedly formed almost the same geometric pattern, while my brainwaves remained dynamic constantly shifting through the hum, breath and silence. The sound repeats. The water finds consistency. The brain continues to change.

I was so spritually emotional about Janmashtami, but then I realised Krishna has lost much of his heroic glory among the masses and is now basically a patron deity of 14-year-old heartbroken girls. There was a time when the Indo-Greeks worshipped him in the guise of Herakles.
