My take: Putin gave up nothing by releasing a 74-year-old American held as a pawn for this type of moment. Putin is not a humanitarian, despite how Mr Witkoff addressed him. And whereas President Trump says he gave up nothing for Stephen Hubbard's release, you will hear all the experts correctly say that he did: busting his own sanctions for a diesel deal with Putin that could put $4 billion into his war chest; inviting Putin to the G20; and dumping Putin's victim, Ukraine, face down in the mud, as it tries to defend its sovereignty and its freedom. You’ve heard the historians call all this appeasement, going against America's own democratic values.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth traveled to Israel in an unannounced trip, two sources familiar & a US official tell me & @talshalev1.
Hegseth met Monday evening with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz, per sources.
Representatives from the UAE were at one of the meetings, per Israeli source.
The Pentagon declined to comment when asked about Hegseth's travel to Israel.
Hegseth’s unannounced visit to Israeli comes days before the country holds its elections.
Trump recently gave his endorsement to Netanyahu calling him a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” in a post on social media.

Israel's President, FM, IDF and police unequivocally condemned the settler attack on European diplomats in the West Bank.
Only Netanyahu questioned what happened in an apparent attempt not to upset his right-wing voter base.

To be clear: Some facts are neither in dispute nor unclear. Our photographer was clearly marked as Press. She was clearly beaten. These are not partisan or risible statements, but indisputable. We urge a thorough investigation and accountability.
The Prime Minister’s Office:
The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation.
Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable.
But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual.
The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence.
We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.
The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.
“Just absolute craziness, and I didn’t see anybody trying to stop it.”

Exclusive: As the Trump admin faces pressure to end the war with Iran, the US military has developed strike plans that include potentially using the so-called “mother of all bombs” to target Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear sites — an escalation, though sources say there are doubts over how effective it would be in actually accomplishing any of Trump’s strategic objectives.

This ... plus reality that actual penetrating munitions currently in the US arsenal also likely lack the capability to destroy facilities as deep underground as Pickaxe without some sort of additional enabling capability.
When the US military used penetrating bombs against Iranian nuclear facilities last summer, they had to drop them down ventilation shafts in order to inflict damage to those underground sites.
The biggest conventional weapon in the US arsenal would have little-to-no effect on Iran's Pickaxe Mountain, buried deep underground.
But it would be a big boom after which Trump could claim victory in Iran and get out.

18 minutes on @CNN with @amanpour to share @MasarJdid vision and defend our people’s right to freedom, democracy, and a dignified life.
My message was clear: what was postponed was more than an election. It was an opportunity for a young generation to participate peacefully in shaping its future. We keep telling our young people that the ballot can change their lives, then the door closes again and again—making the case for democratic change increasingly difficult.
I spoke about our vision: an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, freedom for Palestinians and security for Israelis, and politics that improve everyday life—so students can reach their schools, farmers their land, workers their jobs, and patients the treatment they need.
From my years in prison to my years of dialogue, I learned that understanding others does not mean surrendering our rights. Building trust can open a path to achieving them.
I know the depth of the anger and pain, especially in Gaza. That is why I remain committed to a path that offers our children a way out of suffering. We will continue demanding elections, working alongside our communities, and defending their right to choose their leaders and hold them accountable.
