Barely a year after the creation of the Mid-West on 9 August 1963, the NCNC-controlled Mid-Western government (under the broader political leadership of Nnamdi Azikiwe’s NCNC) dethroned Olu Erejuwa II and exiled him to Ogbesse for his consistent stand that the Itsekiri should remain with their Yoruba kinsmen in the Western Region.
Mid-West Creation (itsekiri decision to remain with western region) Resolution of the Itsekiri Nation, Aghofen, 15 May 1957 On the fifteenth day of May 1957, the Olu of Warri, together with the Traditional Chiefs of Itsekiri land, assembled at Aghofen in the name of the Kingdom of Warri, the Warri Traditional Council, and the General Assembly of the Itsekiri Nation. Having carefully considered the resolution previously adopted by the Divisional Council on the ninth day of May 1957, they unanimously endorsed it and recorded the following determinations: “The Itsekiri people being an integral part of the Yoruba Nation desire that their association with their kith and kin the Yoruba of the Western Region must remain unbroken. That the proposed Mid-West State is inimical to the interests of the Chiefs and people of the Warri Division and the Council of Traditional Chiefs here sitting dissociate themselves from this proposed state if and when it is formed” This resolution stands as a formal expression of the collective will of the Itsekiri leadership and the itsekiri people. 📸; Olu Erejuwa II 1951-1986

Another emergency lover of Nigeria. I pity who allows these people to gaslight them. This particular one was very popular during the agitation that cost so many lives. I haven't seen her tweets in a long while. Like many of the others, she rebranded for the 2023 elections.

Thank you my brother. I believe there must be a disconnect between a few of our GenZ children on twitter and the political direction, machinery and reality on ground for the middle belt. I am privy to these happenings... Why? Because I have served in two different positions in the Middle Belt Forum. The last one being the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the organization. I do not go in a different direction from our leaders nor the interest of our region. Last elections, our leaders endorsed a Southern candidate primarily due to concerns about the Muslim/Muslim ticket. We have since realized that our fears were erroneous due to the magnanimity of the President; he understands us and our reality. Some of us younger ones have also relayed the antagonism the people of the Middle Belt have suffered in the conversations around Nigeria; this has been noted. When you see my tweets, I am not acting alone. I am fully supported by middle belt leaders and our leaders in Southern Kaduna. The result will be spectacular. January 16th, February 6th ✌🏾🤞🏽

Alhaji, you were badly advised and you allowed sycophants around you to misguide you. There was nothing wrong with you joining a political party; but the rookie mistake of taking over a political party without conducting proper due diligence and following the party’s constitution,was/is something an experienced politician like yourself should never have been found in. Stop blaming Bola for your own missteps. You had all opportunities to do the right thing but you still allowed people to deceive you and take your money from you. Instead of blaming Bola, focus on getting your mandate back, appeal the judgement and let your legal team challenge it. Hopefully, you will be able to participate in the election, which you are bound to lose anyways. If something as basic as following due process within the party, could be a problem for you, then what happens if you win the election? So Bola is not your problem, you are.
BOLA CANNOT USE THE COURTS TO ESCAPE THE PEOPLE’S VERDICT; WE ARE ON THE BALLOT — ATIKU Fellow Nigerians, Let no one mistake the latest court ruling for the will of the Nigerian people. No manipulation, conjecture or concoction can erase our place in this contest, silence our campaign or deny Nigerians the right to choose their future. We are on the ballot, and the people must be allowed to decide. Those who boast of having thirty-two governors and claim to have bought, pressured or coerced leaders from other parties into their fold should have no reason to fear a free and fair contest. Yet, instead of presenting their record to Nigerians, they continue to deploy every tactic available to weaken the opposition: political pressure, manufactured narratives, courtroom manoeuvres and attempts to compromise the voters’ register with AI-generated photographs, false names and fictitious identities. These are not the actions of people confident in their record. They are calculated attempts to make genuine competition impossible and push Nigeria towards a one-party state. And what record do they have to defend? This government removed the fuel subsidy overnight without a plan to protect Nigerians. It presided over the steep decline of the naira and allowed food prices to rise beyond the reach of ordinary families. Factories and small businesses have shut their doors. Our young people are leaving in search of hope, while bandits and kidnappers continue to hold communities hostage. Look around you. Market stalls stand empty. Feeding your family has become a daily struggle. Fuel prices keep rising, and silent pain fills homes across the country. Those in power may want you to believe that your suffering does not matter. They may want you to surrender your future before you even reach the ballot box. Do not lose heart. Do not retreat. Your vote is your power, and together, we will take our country back. Let me be clear to every Nigerian who has stood with us: I am in this race. I am not going anywhere. We will be on the ballot. No threat, blackmail or court manoeuvre will make me abandon you or the cause we share. We will resist with all our strength every attempt to turn Nigeria into a one-party state. Nigeria belongs to all its people. Our democracy must remain open to more than one party and more than one voice. If those in power believe in their numbers and their record, let us meet at the polls in a free, fair and credible contest. Our campaign will continue. Our message on the cost of living will not be silenced or derailed. Stay calm, united and resolute. Together, we will fight for a Nigeria where life is affordable and every citizen’s vote counts. Let me say this plainly: Bola cannot use the courts to escape the judgment of Nigerians at the ballot box. Atiku Abubakar Vice President of Nigeria, 1999–2007 Sokoto, Nigeria 6 November 2026

If you are not foolish, you won't say what you say, and we know that axis of Oyo has a lot of Fulani and baruba that have intermixed with y'all. If Alaafin comes to Lagos, he is not greater than any of our Obas here. He can’t even move in such manners. Won o bi Alaafin da.
Go back home. Your royalty belongs to Benin. Olofin Ogunfunminire didn't send y'all to Ife 🤣
