As stakeholders convened to discuss the Digital Literacy Dialogue on Strengthening Uganda’s Digital Skills Ecosystem by @UCC_Official , our very own Leah Ndikuwera, Digital Economy Lead, contributed to the panel discussion on “Building a Collaborative and Sustainable Digital Skills Ecosystem.” During the discussion, Leah highlighted the importance of looking beyond training to consider the bigger picture: how do we ensure that digital skills translate into meaningful work and sustainable livelihoods? She shared insights from the 10X programme, implemented by Outbox (U) Ltd in partnership with the @MastercardFdn , and in collaboration with @UNCDF , Women in Technology Uganda @wituganda and @refactory_acad Over three years, the programme aims to engage 61,000 young women across Uganda, including refugees and persons with disabilities, particularly those facing structural barriers to participation in the growing digital economy. Her message was clear: • Training is a means, not the end. Start with the purpose in mind. •Building a sustainable digital skills ecosystem requires collaboration. No single organization can do it alone. And perhaps the most important question: “Now that you are skilled, what comes next?” @UCC_ED @MoICT_Ug #DigitalLiteracy #ConnectedUg2030 #DigitalUganda

You cannot improve what you never measure. Being data-driven doesn't mean drowning in spreadsheets or investing in expensive business intelligence tools. It starts with knowing which numbers matter to your business and paying attention to them consistently. Are your sales growing? Are you making a profit? Are customers coming back? Which marketing efforts are generating results? Are your operations running efficiently? These questions can reveal opportunities, highlight challenges and help you make better-informed decisions. We have put together 5 data points every business should track to help you get started. Save this for your next business review, and share it with a fellow entrepreneur. #EnablingEntrepreneurs

Young people can gain skills, graduate, start businesses and build ambitious ideas. Their opportunities are also shaped by the systems they have to navigate. That is one of the threads running through the third edition of the Young Africa Works Uganda Digest. The issue examines shifts in education, including stronger digital learning infrastructure, more inclusive institutions and education reform anchored within existing government systems. It looks at what would make workplaces more accessible for persons with disabilities, including the case being made for stronger tax incentives for inclusive employers. It explores how financial institutions are rethinking products for young women and how agrifood actors are responding to young people’s calls for better access to land, finance, markets and productive resources. These are stories about people, and about what needs to change around them for progress to last. The Digest itself explicitly brings structural questions into focus, from school connectivity and disability employment incentives to financial products that better reflect young women’s realities. @MastercardFdn 📖 Explore Issue 3: bit.ly/YoungAfricaWorksUgDig… #YoungAfricaWorksUgandaDigest #ImpactThatLasts #YoungAfricaWorks

“The picture of success is a digital economy where small businesses, young people, women, and the people usually left out can reach markets, money and skills. Telcos and platforms get millions of people transacting on their platforms. Investors get a pipeline worth backing. Government gets a wider tax base and policy built on evidence. The market we are all trying to serve gets bigger and each of us gets a bigger share of it than we could manage alone.” Leah Ndikuwera, Digital Economy Practice Lead, @OutboxHub

What happens when digital solutions exist, but the people who need them most can't afford the devices to use them? At #FAFC2026, Shakila Kerre, Senior Development Professional & MSME and FinTech Financing Specialist at @UNCDF announced the device-financing partnership with Richblack Communications under the #10XProgram "The focus is on helping young MSMEs access smartphones, tablets and laptops for productive use. We are bringing a new concept to the market: device financing for active use," she said. Over two years, the partnership will support MSMEs with affordable device financing can help them use digital payments, reach markets and sell online without being priced out. Participants can take home a device by paying as little as 20% upfront and paying off the balance mpola mpola. The focus is on women, persons with disabilities and refugees, and the target is 22,000 underserved women entrepreneurs. Harriet Ninsiima, Director of Richblack Communications, said the partnership is about closing the gap between a service and the people it was built for: "A smartphone is more than a communication device. It is a gateway to financial inclusion, education, business growth, information and economic opportunity." This is part of the wider work of the 10X Program, which helps MSMEs grow through the digital economy and opens up access and opportunity for women in digital finance. The #10XProgram is implemented by @OutboxHub in partnership with @UNCDF, @refactory_acad and @wituganda, with support from the @MastercardFdn. @FitspaUG @richardzulu #FAFC2026 #10XDigitalEconomy #10XProgram #FITSPA
