本日10月25日(日)は開館日です。 なんだかとても蒸し暑い日曜日です。 今日は14:00〜アイリッシュハープの発表会です。 エントランスホールで開催します。 どなたでもお聴きいただけます。 大正ロマン館はなぜかとても音響が良いので、 展示室全体に音が広がります。 作品鑑賞の邪魔になるほどではないと思いますが、 ご了承ください。 そして昨日もお伝えしましたが、 10月31日(土)13:30〜 マジシャン・Tokyo Tomoさんによる マジックショーがあります。 大正時代には、初代松旭斎天勝の奇術興行が 大人気となり、各地で大喝采を浴びました。 大掛かりなイリュージョンだけでなく、 トランプやハンカチなどを使った手品も 披露されていました。 また、少年雑誌には奇術の種本などの広告も掲載され、 マジックは見るだけでなく、 自分でも楽しむ娯楽として、 ますます身近なものになっていきました。 そういえば華宵もトランプ柄の着物を描いています。 トランプ占い、トランプマジック、 トランプには不思議な魔力のイメージが まとわりついているようですね。 そしてそして、11月19日(土)16:00〜 哲学カフェ＠カフェ・カショーを開催します。 テーマは「顔」。 「やなせたかしが見た高畠華宵の世界展 　ー懐かしき美の追憶ー」関連イベントです。 「顔」というテーマを選んだ理由は、 ズバリ「アンパンマン」です。 詳しくは後ほどイベントページでお知らせしますね。 次の開館日は10月31日(土)、11月1日(日）、3日(火・祝）です。　 Today, Sunday, October 25, the museum is open. It's a rather warm and humid Sunday! Today at 2:00 p.m., we will be hosting an Irish harp recital in our entrance hall. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the performance. For some reason, the Taisho Roman Museum has remarkably good acoustics, allowing music to resonate throughout the galleries. We don't expect the music to interfere with your enjoyment of the exhibition, but we appreciate your understanding. As announced yesterday, we will also be hosting a magic show by magician Tokyo Tomo on Saturday, October 31, at 1:30 p.m. During Japan's Taisho period (1912–1926), the performances of the celebrated magician Shōkyokusai Tenkatsu I were enormously popular, drawing enthusiastic audiences across the country. Her repertoire included not only spectacular stage illusions but also smaller tricks using playing cards, handkerchiefs, and other familiar objects. Advertisements for books revealing the secrets of magic tricks also appeared in boys' magazines, making magic increasingly accessible as a form of entertainment that people could enjoy performing themselves. Incidentally, Takabatake Kasho also depicted a kimono decorated with playing-card motifs. Card readings, card tricks... Playing cards seem to have always carried a certain air of mystery and enchantment. And there's more! On November 19, at 4:00 p.m., we will be holding another Philosophy Café at Café Kasho. This time, our theme is "The Face." The event is being held in conjunction with our current special exhibition, The World of Takabatake Kasho as Seen by Takashi Yanase: Reminiscences of a Bygone Beauty. Why did we choose "The Face" as our theme? The answer is simple: Anpanman! We'll share more details on the event page soon. It's a rather warm Sunday for this time of year. Today, we'd like to introduce the Iwamatsu Taisho Roman Project, a community initiative in the Iwamatsu district of Tsushima, Uwajima City, in which the Kasho Museum participates as an advisor. Iwamatsu has been designated an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the Japanese government. Working together with local residents, the project aims to rediscover and appreciate the history, culture, and unique charm of Iwamatsu through the theme of Taisho Roman—the romantic spirit and cultural elegance of Japan's Taisho era (1912–1926)—and to pass this heritage on to future generations. One of the project's main events, "Iwamatsu Retro Roman Street," will take place on Saturday, November 7. At 10:30 a.m., the director of the Kasho Museum will give a short lecture entitled "The Imagery of Taisho-Era Kimono." Earlier this year, approximately 200 kimono from the Taisho era were generously donated to Harmoni, the nonprofit organization leading the project. The lecture will explore this remarkable collection. There will also be a lively market, while the historic Abe Residence, a former sake brewery dating from the Taisho era and now Harmoni's activity base, will open its doors as a charming retro café. 本日10月12日(月・祝)は開館日です。 みなさん、連休のお疲れは出ていませんか？ 今日も快晴です。 今日は「スポーツの日」ですね。 よく知られているように、 もともとは1964年10月10日に東京オリンピックが 開催されたことを記念して、 1966年に10月10日が「体育の日」として 祝日に制定されました。 2000年から10月第2月曜に祝日が移動、 2020年の東京オリンピック・パラリンピック開催により 名称が「スポーツの日」となりました。 みなさんはどんなスポーツがお好きですか？ ちなみに華宵さんは、昭和4年の雑誌インタビューで、 運動や水泳はあまり得意ではないと語っています。 しかし「指相撲」は得意だし、 誰よりも早く電車に乗り込んで、 席を確保するのも上手いと 自慢しています。 ・・・・華宵さん、悪気はないんでしょうけどね、 話ズレてます、、、、 やなせたかしさんは運動は得意だったのでしょうか？ 「やなせたかしが見た高畠華宵の世界展 　ー懐かしき美の追憶ー」 好評開催中です。 次の開館日は、10月17日(土)、18日(日)です。 We are open today, Monday, October 12 (National Holiday)! Are you feeling a little tired after the long weekend? It's another beautiful, sunny day here! Today is Sports Day in Japan. Originally known as Health and Sports Day, this national holiday was established in 1966 to commemorate the opening of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics on October 10. In 2000, the holiday was moved to the second Monday of October, and in 2020, it was renamed Sports Day. What sports do you enjoy? Interestingly, in a 1929 magazine interview, Kasho Takabatake admitted that he was not particularly good at sports or swimming. However, he proudly claimed to be good at thumb wrestling—and even better at rushing onto trains ahead of everyone else to secure a seat! Well, Kasho... that's not quite what we meant by sports! We wonder if Takashi Yanase was any more athletic. Our special exhibition, “The World of Kasho Takabatake Through the Eyes of Takashi Yanase: Nostalgic Memories of Beauty” is now open and welcoming visitors. 本日10月11日(日)は開館日です。 朝から気温が高めです。 今日は東温市内の各地域で、 秋の地方祭が行われています。 御神輿渡御、獅子舞、御神楽などが奉納されます。 大正ロマン館の周辺でも、 各御旅所には幟が立てられ、 いつもとは違う、 ちょっと高揚した村のお祭りの景色が広がっています。 「やなせたかしが見た高畠華宵の世界展 　ー懐かしき美の追憶ー」 好評開催中です。 初日の昨日は、思いがけずたくさんの方が ご来館くださいました。 そして熱心にやなせさんの詩や文章を読んでいらっしゃいました。　　　　　　 展覧会の導入部分では、やなせたかしが初めて描いた アンパンマンの物語をご紹介しています（複製パネル）。 やなせは1969年1月から１年間、PHPという雑誌に 毎月大人向けのメルヘンを連載していおり、 その6月号に登場したのが「アンパンマン」です。 太っちょで、ヨタヨタと空を飛ぶ、 ヒーローらしくない不器用なアンパンマン。 しかし戦争で飢えに苦しむ子どもたちに、 空からアンパンを落とします。 「そのとき、ドヒューンという音がして 　アンパンマンの胸の辺りに、白いけむりがあがりました。 　飛行機とまちがえた高射砲陣地が火をふいたのです。 　アンパンマンはどうなったか、それはわかりません。 　しかし、決して死にはしないでしょう。 　世界じゅうのおなかのすいた子どもたちのために、 　アンパンマンは今もとびつづけているはずです。」 （本文より） アンパンマンが子どもたちに人気のヒーローになるのは もう少し後のことですが、 この物語にはその後、現代まで続くアンパンマンという キャラクターの原型を見ることができます。 明日（月・祝）も開館いたします。 Today, Sunday, October 11, the museum is open. It has been rather warm since this morning. Today, traditional autumn festivals are being held in communities throughout Toon City, featuring mikoshi (portable shrine) processions, lion dances, and sacred Kagura performances. Around the Taisho Roman Museum, festival banners have been raised at the various otabisho (resting places for portable shrines), creating a festive atmosphere quite different from the usual peaceful village scenery. Our special exhibition, “The World of Kasho Takabatake Through the Eyes of Takashi Yanase: Nostalgic Memories of Beauty” is now open and has been warmly received. Yesterday, the opening day, we were delighted to welcome an unexpectedly large number of visitors. Many took their time reading Yanase’s poems and writings with great interest. At the beginning of the exhibition, we introduce the very first story of Anpanman, written and illustrated by Takashi Yanase, through reproduced panels. Beginning in January 1969, Yanase contributed a monthly series of fairy tales for adults to the magazine PHP for one year. It was in the June issue that Anpanman made his first appearance. This early Anpanman was a rather plump, awkward figure who flew unsteadily through the sky—hardly a conventional hero. Yet he dropped anpan (sweet bean-filled buns) from the sky to children suffering from hunger during wartime. In the story's closing passage, Anpanman is struck by anti-aircraft fire after being mistaken for an aircraft. His fate remains unknown, but the narrator expresses the belief that he cannot truly have died, and that he must still be flying somewhere in the world for the sake of hungry children. It would be some years before Anpanman became the beloved children's hero we know today. Yet this early story already reveals the essential spirit of the character—a hero whose greatest act of courage is to feed those who are hungry. The museum will also be open tomorrow, Monday, October 12, a national holiday in Japan. We look forward to welcoming you.

Many of you may have discovered his remarkable life through the series. This exhibition began with a simple question: What did Yanase experience through the works of Kasho Takabatake, which he encountered as a child? What did he see in Kasho’s art? And how might those early impressions have influenced his own illustrations, stories, and creative imagination? These are the questions we hope to explore through this exhibition. The exhibition runs until January 11, 2027. That may seem like a long time, but the months—especially toward the end of the year—have a way of flying by!
