Both aspects of muscle are related to cognitive function, even after accounting for other things known to affect cognition (age, sex, aerobic fitness) AND the contrasting outcome (i.e. muscle strength relates to cognition even after accounting for muscle mass).

These results show a unique relationship between muscle and processing speed used during working memory and inhibitory control. Both muscle strength AND muscle mass are important for optimal cognitive health!

Introducing the Action-Mode Network – AMN. Better late than never! 17 years ago, we clumsily called this the Cingulo-opercular Network (CON) based on its anatomy (we weren’t exactly sure what it does). Now we’ve finally got the evidence to give it the functional name it deserves: the Action-mode Network (AMN). Find our arguments here: osf.io/preprints/psyarxiv/2v… with the peerless Marc Raichle and the brilliant @gordonneuro. 🧵 ↓

🧠 It's not about how hard you work out, but rather the consistency of your activity. Light physical activities can boost cognitive health! #Cognition #Health 🧵thread 1/7

Ok this is big. Web of Science just removed the MDPI flagship journal IJERPH from their lists. This means IJERPH has no more an Impact Factor. Why is this big? What are the implications? 🧵

Very interesting! I suspect this study to have a large media coverage. You need to be carfeful about the content of the message provided at the population.
Fantastic NEW research! nature.com/articles/s41591-0… Vigorous intermittent lifestyle physical activity (VILPA) (3-4 minute bursts per day) associated with: ~ 40% ⬇️all-cause, cancer & cardiovascular mortality in non-exercisers. @NatureMedicine @M_Stamatakis
