Make sure you have several ways to get weather updates. Storms will pass through some areas overnight. Keep your cells phones charges and DON'T turn off the alerts, they can wake you up if needed. Activate your safety plan and be prepared to take cover, no matter the time of day.

The Rolling Fork/Silver City tornado has received a preliminary EF-4 rating. We still have a great amount of information to process, and we will provide additional details on this tornado as they are finalized.

Sponsored by YOUR @ametsoc STAC committee! Come along and learn about leading an effective radar field campaign. A great way to engage in the lead up to @EradSwitzerland and our topical meeting next year!
Organized by the Committee on Radar Meteorology @ametsoc_radar, this webinar features scientists from the PERiLS (Propagation, Evolution and Rotation in Linear Storms) campaign who will share their best practices and lessons learned. Register at ametsoc.org/WebinarPERiLS #webinars

Yesterday's storms brought widespread reports of wind damage and at least several tornadoes. Here's a preliminary look at storm reports sent in already. If you know of damage, please send us a report, picture, and time of damage. Thanks! #lawx #mswx #arwx
Here's our final sounding video for IOP 2 of @PERiLS_Project... launched just as the sirens were going off with an approaching circulation. Data will almost surely be convectively contaminated above ~700 mb, but we should get some great characterization of the low-level inflow.

Things are starting to get mighty gusty and increasingly wet here for our @PERiLS_Project balloon launches! The main line and some of its leading stratified precipitation should be here within the hour 😲

Radiosondes are taking off here in support of @PERiLS_Project! Our balloon absolutely *took off* shortly after the end of the clip ➡️ our 850 mb low-level jet is already nearing 60 kt (~30 m/s) and likely will strengthen as the day progresses 💨

Like IOP1, our real time LiDAR & weather balloon data will be available on the @PERiLS_Project field catalog. We plan to launch balloons ~60-min. Any data plots have not been quality controlled. Balloon data: catalog.eol.ucar.edu/perils_…
We’re operational in Sturgis, MS for @PERiLS_Project IOP2.
