This moisture is setting us up for a wet week ahead across the Corn Belt.
.@NOAA's #GOESWest (#GOES18) 🛰️ has been monitoring monsoonal moisture streaming into the Southwest via its water vapor channel.
#Flood Advisories and Watches as well as #FlashFlood Warnings are in effect throughout the region—particularly southeastern New Mexico, western Texas and the Oklahoma Panhandle.

A friend asked how much surface OM can changed in one year. He asked an AI-bot, but its answer was an unsupport guess.
We then posed the question to GreenKeeper App, and we found it depend on the starting point.
Is 2x/yr aeration + regular topressing too much? Find out here.
How much can surface organic matter change in a year?
That depends where it starts. The same cultivation and sand topdressing program can produce very different trajectories.
Measure surface OM this fall and start down a path of success in 2027.

“How much grass was in the buckets?”
Nearly 500,000 #ClipVol measurements are helping us answer that question—from seasonal and regional growth patterns to nutrient removal and weather response.

It's looking warm, but seasonable this week with highs in the mid 80s to lower 90s. Some higher end heat looks like it will return by next week, with signs of temperatures exceeding 100 some days.
The past weekend weather was warm, wet and cloudy. The end result: bacterial etiolation on the backyard research green.
Starting wetting agent longevity research next week. Do repeated applications of a wetting agent shorten product efficacy? Stay tuned.
Turf and agronomy researchers, I'm looking for your help!
Would you imagine an difference in changing from CO2 powered sprayers to air compressor or electric pump driven sprayers for small plot research?
An air compressor or electric pump to apply PGR and wetting agents would be easy, but wouldn't have the potential acidifying effects of the CO2 propellant. Thanks!

Long-term wetting agent degradation/efficacy study goes live in a month. Getting the height down on the Pure Distinction sod from Green Valley Turf. It is starting knit together despite tons of topdressing this spring. Their low mow KBG sod is awesome, too.

Poa annua is a persistent weed in turfgrass systems. Effective control combines pre- and post-emergent chemical options and nonchemical management strategies, based on the system and circumstances.

First mow of the new wetting agent research green sod (0.200"). Still lots of sand topdressing to go. Hope to fire up the drip system for the first time this weekend.

@GreenKeeperApp is following the Proxy/PGR timing. It's interesting to watch the window move north over the past seven days and see where we'll be in 8 days. Follow up Proxy with a second app 200 GDD after the first for best control.
We're working with Penn State's @StrawTurf and his grad students at to validate our new approach to sensor interpretation.

Most sensor maps show variation. Few tell you whether it matters.

GreenKeeper is thrilled to support the UT Turf Team's effort with Mobile Weed Manual. It's a lot of work to maintain for them to maintain each year and an amazing free resource you should check out. It also is available in the app stores - a first for @GreenKeeperApp.
Thanks to generous support from
@GreenKeeperApp, I’m proud to announce that Mobile Weed Manual has been updated for 2026. This free, research-based resource is now available on all platforms. Excited to collaborate w/ @PGRBill & team to keep this tool available for managers
