I’m thrilled that our panel was a full house, and I had the opportunity to present on how combining academic & activist efforts can drive meaningful change in human rights, specifically in gendered social justice. My talk focused on key areas:
- #Turkey’s state-led & state-sanctioned oppression
- gendered racialization & institutionalized discrimination and violence
- transnational #feminism against gendered #Islamophobia
- creating counter-hegemonic spaces for #resistance
The feedback I received after my presentation was incredibly empowering & productive, opening up exciting possibilities for impactful collaborative work & new perspectives on affect and embodiment.

The 2024 Nobel Peace Prize goes to Nihon Hidankyo, survivors of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, for advocating a nuclear-free world. Their testimonies helped establish the “nuclear taboo,” and their message is more urgent than ever with rising global threats.

As a proud member of PJSA, and both an academic and activist, I’ll be presenting at the annual conference at @NiagaraUniv. I’ll highlight potential power of collaboration between academia & civil society in social justice, which I call "Research & Activism Intertwined," specifically focusing on the spatial racialization experiences of immigrant women.
