🧵 I continue to be humbled by the consistency of #prochoice rationale. The popular defense that "most new humans/embryos don't implant," is obviously very wise. This implies if something occurs accidentally or naturally, it's moral when done forcefully and/or intentionally.

That may be science but is not how things work in reality. But obviously reality is not something you are really interested in. Scientific terms can be used to justify either side of the issue. Scientifically a fetus is more like a feeding per site than a birthed baby.

biology can tell us whether something is biologically human. it cannot, by itself, tell us what qualifies as a person with moral or legal status. defining ‘person’ as ‘biological human being’ just assumes the very conclusion being debated.

that’s a philosophical claim, not a biological fact. biology determines whether something is a living human organism; ‘personhood’ is a philosophical and legal concept. you can argue they should coincide, but biology alone doesn’t establish that.
