🚧 Upcoming road closure - Rose Lane, Mossley Hill 🚧
A small section of Rose Lane, near Glenmore Avenue, will be closed from 9.30am-3.30pm on both Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October.
This is to allow for a dangerous tree to be removed.
Please follow the diversions in place.

An extremely positive meeting yesterday with Breck Homes, who will be building 112 desperately needed new social homes as part of the Phase 5 development in Page Moss.
Since Page Moss became part of Liverpool West Derby in 2024, I have pushed hard for Phase 5 to deliver the social housing our community desperately needs. I was delighted yesterday to see that work beginning to come to fruition.
We also had extremely positive discussions about creating jobs and opportunities for local people.
If we get this right, this development could become a genuine blueprint for the Government’s vision of rebuilding our council and social housing stock delivering high quality homes and good local jobs for our communities.

It’s Friday, which means it’s time for this week’s Bands on the Run – shouting out Liverpool City Region artists past and present.
This week we’re going classic Merseybeat and modern Liverpool anthem:

When I talk to young people about work, the same thing keeps coming up. Not a lack of ambition - a lack of a way in.
One million young people in this country are not in education, work or training. That's around one in eight. And six in ten of them have never had a job at all.
I know that these young people aren't lazy. They have been let down by a system that told them there was only one route to success, and then left them without the opportunities to get their foot in the door anywhere else.
Too often, work experience has depended on who you know, rather than what you can do.
Last month we changed the education system so that from 14, young people can access proper technical education, with real skills, real work experience and real links to employers where they live.
Now we're bringing employers, schools and colleges together to close the gap between the classroom and the workplace.
The youth unemployment crisis has been ignored for too long.
That ends now.

Andy Burnham is right on this. Too many young people are written off as lacking ambition when the real problem is a lack of opportunity.
Proper technical education, genuine work experience and stronger links with employers should have been priorities years ago.

Following our initial letter to Sir Ed Davey, it has come to our attention that a second Lib Dem councillor has described the proposed queuing area as “like the greeting area for Auschwitz.”
We have now asked for the Liberal Democrat whip to be suspended from both councillors.

Council housing is personal to me. Our one helped my mum give us a stable start in life, without constantly worrying about keeping a roof over our heads.
I want the Liverpool City Region to be at the forefront of the council housebuilding revival.
