As autumn deepens and 1 November approaches, candles will soon light up cemeteries across Warsaw. It’s a time for remembrance and an opportunity to discover the stories behind the city’s historic necropolises.
🕯️Stare Powązki — Founded in 1790, this historic cemetery is known for its ornate tombs, sculptures and the graves of many prominent figures in Polish culture.
🕯️Bródno Cemetery - Established in 1884, it offers a glimpse into the lives of generations of Warsaw residents from all walks of life.
🕯️Wilanów Cemetery — A quieter historic cemetery with links to Wilanów’s past, founded in 1816, featuring the striking Neo-Gothic Potocki family chapel.

Storm Beolo Update | Saturday 4pm
Strong winds associated with Storm Beolo continue to cause disruption to flight operations at Dublin Airport this afternoon.
As of 4pm, 9 outbound and 10 inbound flights have been cancelled by airlines due to weather issues. Six inbound flights performed go-arounds - 5 of which landed on the second attempt, with the other diverting to another airport before returning a short time later.
Winds are forecast to remain strong for the rest of the day, which may lead to further disruption.
Passengers should travel to the airport as normal - 2 hours before short-haul, 3 hours before long-haul - and keep in direct contact with their airline for latest updates regarding the status of their flight. ✈️

🕯 #OnThisDay in 1984, Father Jerzy Popiełuszko, a spiritual leader of Solidarity who preached non-violence and “overcoming evil with good,” was kidnapped and murdered by communist Security Service officers. Beatified in 2010, he remains a martyr for freedom and truth.
While visiting Dublin as part of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU, Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka also met at the Ambassador’s residence with directors of Polish schools and representatives of Polish-language teachers.
The exhibition on Casimir Markievicz, Constance Markievicz’s husband, opened at the Donegal County Museum in Letterkenny. Historical links between the Polish and Irish nations help to tighten bilateral ties and deepen mutual understanding.
