Being a 2024 era memecoin enjoyoor never felt so strange and such a badge of honour. The bear market bred the most disgusting type of “hero”. I think it happened when the community aspect of memes was abandoned. The guts of the meme were plunged into and scooped out by scammers and the bottom barrel parasites of crypto, and we were left with the “daily runner” masquerading as the meme. Then people just went “oh, ok sure” Now I’m not going to pretend we don’t want to make money, that’s not the point of this post. However I spoke of this many times over the last innings of the solana summer. Much like anything in life or financial markets the only way we achieve success is by aligning ourselves with value. When value is accepted as low conviction, dirty tactics and scamming, well you end up here. The meme was/is a special part of crypto because it gives the average guy an opportunity to enrich themselves while becoming part of something valuable through being convicted in, working creatively and unrelentingly on, then, and here’s the key, being rewarded for it. Without this reward for the above everything spirals and concentrates towards the dregs of society (I believe memes are a societal reflection thats majority created by this consensus) People can blame said society while doing nothing to oppose it. Blame liquidity, the economy or whatever they like. But in the end, are society, thus are responsible for the outcome of action and importantly inaction. Eventually, rationalising the can’t beat them join them hyperotatrion spew that’s been glorified by the few that it enriches (any kol/insider you see on ct) then regurgitating it, makes you poor and destroys the ability of the average guy to make it not the former. It’s time for a change. Make memes memes again. Internet culture, history, not launched or held by known bad actors (this used to be normal) then the vibe shifts to you making money and you becoming the value.
