This collapse is happening in Portland, Seattle, and other cities. These places haven't recovered from the COVID era, which gave us lockdowns, the George Floyd riots, and the de facto legalization of drug-and-crime-generating homeless encampments. A policy disaster.
Portland’s Royal Sonesta: bought for $108.3M in 2016. Now reportedly sold for $6.83M for 220 rooms—just $31,000 per key. A staggering 93.7% price collapse.
This is what happens when government fails at public safety, downtown disorder spirals, Measure 110’s consequences go unaddressed, and Multnomah County’s mental-health system fails people in crisis.
Tourism doesn’t thrive where visitors feel unsafe and downtown businesses struggle to survive.
Portland didn’t get here by accident. Policy choices have consequences—and taxpayers, workers, businesses, and property owners are paying the price.

Another day, another Islamic terrorist raid and massacre on a Christian village in Nigeria. And as we’ve heard in every terrorist attack and grotesque massacre a hundred thousand times before, you can hear them shouting Allahu Akbar in celebratory joy as they charge into the village to murder innocent people.
And as with every massacre of Christians, the world and media are silent. No protests. No peace activists. Nobody seems to care.
It’s a stain on all humanity how we have allowed this to continue.

At least 7,500 Christians were killed and about 1,000 churches attacked, destroyed, or burned across several African countries between January 1 and October 10, 2026.
World leaders remain silent to avoid challenging Islam’s false image as a religion of peace.
Please share and keep them in your prayers!

My uncle fixed American warships for 41 years.
He was a welder at the US Navy base in Yokosuka. He started at 19. He barely spoke English. He didn't need to. He spoke steel.
Destroyers. Cruisers. An aircraft carrier, more times than he can count. If a ship in the Seventh Fleet had a seam, there's a decent chance my uncle welded it.
He never met most of the sailors who sailed on them. He just knew they came home safe. Because the seams held.
Last spring, he retired.
He expected a cake in the break room. Maybe a certificate.
Instead, when he walked out of the shop on his last day, there were sailors lined up on both sides of the pier. In dress uniform.
A boatswain raised a whistle to his lips.
My uncle had no idea what was happening. Someone had to explain it to him later.
In the US Navy, when a sailor retires after a long career, they "pipe him ashore." Sideboys line up. The whistle sounds. Everyone salutes.
It's an honor the Navy gives its own.
They gave it to a Japanese welder.
My uncle walked between them slowly. Every few steps, he stopped and bowed. They held their salute the entire time.
At the end of the line, the captain shook his hand and said something my uncle didn't understand.
That night, he asked me to translate it.
"Fair winds and following seas."
He made me write it down in Japanese letters, so he could say it right.
Now, every time we leave his house, he walks us to the door and says the only English sentence he knows by heart.
"Fair winds and following seas."

Shocking neglect and abuse of retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, a natural born leader of men who spent 40 years in service to his country, and his son's long fight for justice. Please share Ben's post widely: "My father, Retired Lt Col Stephen Maguire DCM SAS, is a man who spent nearly 40 years in dedicated service to this country, serving from 1970 until 2009. He is a natural leader, a decorated soldier, to those who served with him. However, he has been completely abandoned and betrayed by the very system he gave everything to.
I am fighting for justice for my father. This struggle is a mirror of my own life; my own journey marked by the negligence of MPs, charities, and veteran services which led me to the absolute rock bottom of homelessness as a veteran myself. I know exactly what it is like to be discarded by the people who promised to provide support.
After years of fighting, we finally have a pathway toward the right care, but the damage is already done. The sheer scale of the failings along the way has crippled a man who likely only suffered from PTSD. What should have been a manageable recovery became a total collapse because of institutional incompetence.
This isn't a failure of one person or one office it is a systemic rot. For too long, the UK government, regardless of which side of the fence they sit on, has played a political game with the lives of our veterans. Whether it is Labour or the Conservatives, the result is the same: service men are treated as assets when they are useful and as liabilities the moment they are broken. We are told our sacrifices are "remembered," but the reality is that once the uniform comes off, the care vanishes.
We sought help for my dad, worried about PTSD and dementia resulting from his service. Through the SAS Association and Veterans’ Aid, he was referred to various healthcare facilities. Instead of professional care, he found negligence from these referrals.
In the last few years alone, he has been through multiple institutions that have failed him. We've dealt with incorrect diagnoses, doctors who tried to push him out of their care because he was "too difficult," and the removal of life-saving medication that led to him being sectioned under the Mental Health Act. He was sedated and left to decline without specialist care. His PTSD was completely ignored, and his medical history was dismissed. In one instance, he was admitted to the hospital due to low sodium caused by the excessive use of anti-psychotic medication.
The most infuriating part is the silence from the top. MPs have explicitly ignored this situation and failed to act for a Lt Col in 22 SAS. The "Military Covenant" is nothing more than a piece of paper used for photo opportunities while men like my father are left to rot.
The system has failed. The NHS has failed. Veteran charities have failed. From the MOD passing the buck to the medical incompetence of the facilities, my father has been abandoned like thousands of others.
I am posting this because we need accountability. It is not enough to simply "help" now; there must be justice for the way he was treated. My father spent four decades looking after his men and serving at the highest level for the United Kingdom; it is a national disgrace that the government failed to look after him and many like him.
Do not listen to the rhetoric the government continues to push. As this is an example of what happens after 40 years of dedicated service.
Please share this. We need the people in power to answer for this. We need leaders who actually lead, not politicians who just talk."

HORRIFYING: New footage shows Boko Haram Islamic jihadists in Africa massacring Christians with machetes.
This year alone, more Christians have been killed in Nigeria than Palestinians in 3 years of war.
Don’t stop talking about the real genocide of Christians in Nigeria.
This!
About 20 years ago I had a friend who was South African. She was gorgeous and funny and kind. She came to America on a travel Visa. She could not get her visa extended (she desperately tried all avenues.)
She wept the day she left the USA and I’ll never forget what she told me: “I must leave so I can get the opportunity to come back to the USA in the future and become a citizen!”
THAT is who we want to become an American.
Someone who respects our laws and our way of life.

This reminds me of some of the medievally horrific stories I heard from the staff of the India Gandhi Children’s Hospital in Kabul about both maternal care and pediatric burn care.
I was silly enough to ask what all the NGOs raising money to help the AFG people were doing to help address this.
Stares and shrugs.
Tens of billions of dollars were spent in the first decade alone, with hundreds of NGOs hanging a shingle.
A lot of money was made by NGO staff and leadership in Europe and North America. A lot of money was spread around in marketing and security…and yet, almost a decade after Camp Rhino, 18year old girls on foot or if lucky with a donkey, still spent days on the road to get their 2 year old child with 30% of their bodies covered with burns to medical care.
All that money, like pouring water into the sand.
As always, follow the money.
Across the rich world, nearly a quarter of all development aid now goes to climate projects.
The core problem is opportunity cost. Every dollar subsidizing solar panels or carbon accounting is a dollar not spent on schools, maternal health or clean water.

NEW: Ilhan Omar, whose husband's firm accepted $11.25m from an Indian billionaire in 2024, told Chris Hayes last week she struggles to pay rent for her 2 homes.
Her claim defies belief—since 2023, Omar has accepted $118k in taxpayer funds to pay for her DC rent and daily meals as part of a little-known fringe congressional benefit. This is on top of her $174,000 salary.
