For parents, getting children excited about reading can take more than finding a good story. Sometimes, it starts with a question that makes them want an answer. 🤔
Science delivers both surprises and compelling stories for today’s youth. Bold ideas. Failed experiments. Breakthroughs that reshaped our world. Behind each success is a story of trial and error—where setbacks build suspense and the search for a solution keeps kids turning the page. 🔬💡📖
And so, in celebration of National Book Month, one @USNavy graduate is inspiring families across the country to transform science into storytime—pairing the power of reading with the pull of discovery. ⚓📚🚀
Jennifer Swanson joins @WBALJFro on @WBALTV 11 Saturday Morning to share how big breakthroughs can build a love of literacy in kids—and give us a look inside her new book, @AtlasObscura's Explorer’s Guide to Inventing the World (co-authored by @DylanThuras | published by @WorkmanPub): bit.ly/4sqnfoX. ⚙️🌎📺

From the shores of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario to the trails and parks where families spend their weekends, nature gives children across Western New York, Southern Ontario, and around the world plenty of reasons to care about the planet. 🌊🌳🌎
But when conversations turn to climate change, wonder can give way to worry—and leave young minds questioning whether small steps can make a difference. 😔
And so, in recognition of International Day of Climate Action, one former kindergarten teacher is turning the page on that uncertainty—showing children that a changing world is still a world they can help shape. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🌱👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿
Award-Winning Children's Author, @JyotiGopal, sits down with @BTPMNews' @RyanZRadio share how parents and educators can turn storytime into a starting point for climate action and guide children from concern to confidence—and a lopk inside inside the pages of her new book, Arctic Adventure: A Tundra Tale (published by Feiwel & Friends | @MacKidsBooks): btpm.org/2026-10-22/author-j…. ❄️📖📺 @HGLiterary @zandramims @MacKidsSL

“What number is this, Chip?”
“7-A!”
This weekend marks the anniversary of “Daydream Believer,” released on October 25, 1967.
Written by John Stewart of the Kingston Trio, and produced by Chip Douglas, it became one of those records that seemed to be an instant hit. Davy sang the lead, I sang harmony, Mike played guitar, Peter played piano, and Chip was there on bass and percussion. Shorty Rogers supplied the orchestral arrangement.
The single became our third No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, holding the top spot for four weeks. It also reached No. 1 in Canada, New Zealand, Ireland and South Africa, No. 2 in Australia and Norway, No. 4 in Germany and Japan, and No. 5 in the U.K.
Peter came up with that instantly recognizable piano introduction, and the B-side was “Goin’ Down.” It had actually been recorded during the sessions for PISCES, AQUARIUS, CAPRICORN & JONES LTD., but wound up appearing on THE BIRDS, THE BEES & THE MONKEES instead.
Let's hear it for "Daydream Believer!"

With the new school year underway, children across the country have settled into classrooms where their progress will be measured in letters, scores, and percentages. But those marks can only show how a child is performing—not who that child is becoming. 📋🏫🌱
Grades measure right answers—not the courage to ask questions, the compassion to include others, the creativity to think differently, or the determination to try again. Yet when achievement becomes the only scoreboard, children can begin mistaking a number for their worth. 😔
And so, an Australian educator is looking beyond the grades and across the globe—ready to shift the back-to-school conversation and remind families and educators that a report card may record a child’s progress, but it should never write the story of their potential. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🌏👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿
Jennifer Louise sits down with @ABC6NEWS to share the meaning behind her new book, Pearl: A children’s book about growing through adversity (published by @MiriamLaundry Publishing), and how she hopes it will help kids navigate challenges during the school year and beyond. 🦪📖📺

From the astonishing life hidden in the Amazon to the ingenious inventions hiding in plain sight, there’s a story behind how things thrive—and how things work. 🌴🔍⚙️
For kids, a closer look can turn an everyday observation into a question worth pursuing—and a moment of surprise into a spark for learning more. 💡
And so, one standout science communicator is connecting nature’s wonders with human ingenuity—showing young readers how much there is to learn when curiosity leads the way. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻✨👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿

Winnie the Pooh officially turns 100 years old today
Today marks a century since A. A. Milne's original Winnie-the-Pooh was published, and what a run! 🍯
A new school year asks children to do more than learn. It asks them to find where they fit. 🧩🏫🧩
One cutting comment in the hallway, one empty seat at lunch, or one invitation that never arrives can change how a child walks into the classroom the next morning. While parents may notice the silence, the shrinking confidence, or the sudden wish to stay home, knowing how to reach a child who has begun closing themselves off is not always simple. 😔
And so, a North Minneapolis native-turned-Australian educator is returning to the Twin Cities with a timely message for families across the country this fall: the moments that leave a child feeling left out can become the very moments that teach them to stand tall. 🇦🇺🧍💜
Jennifer Louise joins @KellyMOConnell & @ShayneWellsFOX9 on @FOX9GoodDay to share how families can help children move beyond hurtful labels and turn setbacks into strength—and the inspiration behind her new book, Pearl: A children’s book about growing through adversity (published by: @MiriamLaundry): bit.ly/4snfS1z. 🦪📖📺

A date on the calendar can start a conversation—but it takes a story to make it personal. For children learning about Indigenous Peoples’ Day, that means looking beyond names and dates to the people whose lives give history its depth. 🗓️
Seeing the past through someone their own age can make unfamiliar experiences easier to understand—and give families a starting point to discuss whose perspectives they hear. 💬
And so, in recognition of Indigenous Peoples’ Day, one veteran educator is helping our nation's youth see Native history in a new light—and giving families a way to hear the voices too often left out. 👦🏿👦🏽👦🏻🌟👧🏻👧🏽👧🏿
Bradley Wright joins @NorthernNewsNow's @HMorganReporter to share how families across the country can introduce children to Indigenous Peoples’ Day—and a look inside his new middle-grade historical novel, 13 Moons (published by @ReycraftBooks). 🌕 📖 📺
