Chicago police officers get police called on them for their behavior.
A routine 2:00 AM hotel noise complaint 50 miles south of Chicago quickly unraveled into a chaotic corridor confrontation when a rowdy post-wedding party decided local laws simply didn’t apply to them.
When Bradley Police officers arrived to address repeated complaints from other guests, they weren’t met with cooperation, they were met with brazen entitlement. Instead of just lowering the volume, members of the group immediately began flashing secondhand clout, repeatedly name-dropping their Chicago Police Department connections with lines like "my kids are cops" and "we’re CPD, so it’s all good."
To them, the local officers were just "bourbon clowns" being "extra," and the entire encounter was treated like a joke. They laughed off lawful orders, argued over basic identification requests, and acted as if having family members present on the CPD roster granted them diplomatic immunity in another jurisdiction.
The responding officers repeatedly warned the group that playing games with the law in the hallway of a private business was only going to end one way: an eviction or a trip to jail.
That warning went entirely unheeded.
Once hotel management had enough of the screaming and officially demanded that all seven guests be removed from the property, the arrogance completely boiled over into physical defiance. Told to pack their bags and vacate, the family refused to comply.
When officers moved to secure the area, the father who is a CPD officer physically obstructed them, forcing police to take him to the floor. As officers wrestled him into handcuffs, a relative, Jasmine, escalated the scene even further by physically intervening and fighting with police in the hallway.
The aftermath:
The father was hauled off and charged with Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer (prosecutors ultimately opted not to pursue his charges). Special treatment for being a cop?
Jasmine was booked on felony Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer along with Resisting. She ultimately took a plea deal down to Attempted Resisting a Peace Officer, netting 2 days in jail, 24 months of court supervision, and $514 in fines.
Believing you're untouchable because of who you know is a high-stakes gamble, and when the cuffs finally came out, this family found out the hard way that having a badge from out of town don't beat a lawful order to clear the hallway.
Two tier justice system in action in my opinion. The father that is a cop was let go with nothing, girl that is not was sent to jail for two days.
