Religious leaders said Jesus's power came from Satan. His response is one of the most misunderstood verses in the Bible.
The Holy Spirit produces nine specific attributes in a person's life who is connected to Christ.
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Galatians 5.
In the most pressure filled moment of His entire earthly life Jesus did not address God as Lord. Not as Almighty. Not as Creator. The word He chose in Gethsemane reveals something about how God expects to be approached that most Christians have never fully felt.
Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Galatians 6:7
The kings of the whole world gather at Armageddon to fight Jesus, and the Bible never describes a fight. Revelation records the gathering, the capture of the beast and the false prophet, and a sword that comes out of His mouth. His name is The Word of God.
John calls Jesus "the Word." In Greek, that title is one word, Logos. And Logos was already in Israel's own Scripture, centuries before John ever wrote it.
God called Job blameless and upright. Then he allowed everything to be taken from him: his ten children, his herds, his health. For chapter after chapter, Job asks for one thing, that the Almighty would answer him. In Job 38, God does.
Jesus never said try your best. He used the Greek word agonizomai, the root of "agony," a word for the struggle of a contestant in the ancient arena.
Every person who has ever died will eventually be resurrected. Not into the same place. Not into the same fate.
Five words. That’s all it took for the religious leaders to reach for stones.
In John 8:58, Jesus doesn’t claim to be older than Abraham. He doesn’t say “I was.” He doesn’t say “I existed.” He says something that grammatically should be impossible.
Jesus made one of the most surprising statements in all of Scripture in John 16:7. He told His disciples it was actually better for them that He was leaving. Not acceptable. Not necessary. Better. The Greek word is sumphero. Genuinely advantageous.
John was the most intimate disciple Jesus ever had. He leaned against Him at the last supper. Stood at the foot of the cross when every other disciple fled. Ate breakfast with Him after the resurrection. Nobody knew Jesus the way John knew Jesus.
Before light existed. Before land. Before anything.
Scripture records one figure already present over the darkness.
In the Old Testament the Holy Spirit did
not live inside people.
He visited them.
He came upon Samson for strength. Upon
David for kingship. Upon the prophets
to speak.
Right after His baptism the Spirit drove Jesus into the wilderness. The word Mark uses in the original Greek is ekballo, cast out. The exact same word used every single time Jesus cast a demon out of someone throughout his entire gospel.
