A10. Also, don't take any hiccup in your job so damn seriously. The best advice I ever received was from a former boss, who said "Megan, we're not brain surgeons. We're marketers. No one is going to die on the table!" #PRStudChat
A10. Don't have anything set in stone as to the path your life and career will take. There will be many twists and turns along the way - that's what makes life so extraordinary! #PRStudChat

A10: The best is yet to come... don't let what happens right now define your future. Stay strong.. #PRStudChat

A9. And treat every connection as a possible relationship. That means take the time to respond thoughtfully and personally. #PRStudChat
Q9: Honesty, Transparency. That's how you can stand out... don't just say anything to get the job. Believe in your ethics and stand by them. #PRStudChat

A9. This might sound very basic but become a great LISTENER and ask questions. We are in communications and if you only get half the story then... what's the point? Also, don't be afraid to flex creative muscles and offer new ideas! 💪 #PRStudChat
Q9. In the spirit of reverse mentoring, let’s share advice on how to stand out in PR and communications. Go! #PRStudChat

As you go through your career it will make more sense to use nonacademic/more recent samples to showcase your talents- but for students, especially those going out for their first internship, academic work is a great way to showcase your applicable skills! #prstudchat #ksupr3375 – at Kennesaw, GA

A8. I'd say yes, as long as you're transparent about what it was for and the role you played—and especially if it demonstrates your creativity and strategic thinking. Of course, as you gain experience after graduation, you won't need these as much #PRStudChat

A8. IMO, yes. I created an IMC plan in my @BonasIMC program and used that to the MAX. However, if you present projects that are group-oriented, you should be transparent and note that in your portfolio, as to not take credit for the full work! #PRStudChat

A6. I had a similar experience, as a practice leader for a large #PR agency, I realized I could start my own #PR firm and it was a great (roller coaster) of an experience I wouldn't trade for anything-that also led me to where I am today. #PRStudChat
A6. At one point in my career, I was managing someone's marketing firm. I realized I could do this for my own business. So, one big life shift later ... I had launched my PR and communications company! #PRStudChat #entrepreneur

A7. Start sharing content (blog, videos, etc.) with the knowledge you have at the time. @Medium offers an awesome content creation platform students can use to begin sharing their thoughts and opinions. Also, craft a "trade statement" and incorporate in your profile #PRStudChat
Q7. What is the best way to transition your social media profiles from “student” to “professional?" #PRStudChat

A4: College is great, but nothing beats hands on experience. I’ve learned so much throughout the years from interning and having mentors. You can’t buy that type of learning. #PRStudChat

I always wondered if I should use one or the other. For me, LinkedIn is a great way to network and make connections with light showcasing of my personal experiences and work, and my website is a more complex portfolio for projects, pieces and experiences. #KSUPR3375 #PRStudChat
#LinkedIn is the online resume that accompanies your portfolio site. RT @JasMollica: A5: Also stress that you shouldn't toss #LinkedIn, in favor of a portfolio site. Use both to your advantage! #PRStudChat

Incredibly so! Many students who haven’t had internships feel like they have no “real professional” work to share. Don’t dismiss writing, research projects, and digital design assignments you do for university classes- they make great portfolio additions! #prstudchat #ksupr3375 – at Kennesaw, GA

Proof right here! MT @b_cacc08: @PRStudChat My portfolio website has helped me excel in the application process for entry level jobs & internships. It's a great way for new PR pros to showcase experiences. I would say it is very important. #KSUPR3375 #PRStudChat
