The Climate Prediction Center released its new winter outlook today 10/15. It's indicating above normal temperatures for most of our region. And it's leaning toward above normal precipitation in southern parts of the Dakota News Now area.

After a gloomy start to the day, the sun is making its appearance with some cloud iridescence too! This colorful phenomenon happens when water droplets or ice crystals interact with sunlight like tiny prisms in the atmosphere. ☀️☁️

Even though we have much cooler and occasionally wet weather moving in next week, the longer range outlooks are bringing back the warmer and drier pattern for the latter part of October and early November.
