💜Standing Together Against Domestic Violence💜 Here in the Town of Paradise Valley, we stand together against Domestic Violence. Domestic Violence awareness means more than wearing purple. It means understanding what domestic violence looks like, recognizing the warning signs, supporting survivors, and working together to create safer communities. Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner violence, is a pattern of behaviors used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner or family member. It can happen to anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, or background. Abuse can take many forms, including: 🔹 Physical: Hitting, slapping, shoving, choking, kicking, or using weapons 🔹 Emotional & Psychological: Name-calling, constant criticism, gaslighting, threats, humiliation, or isolation 🔹 Sexual: Any sexual activity that is forced or occurs without consent, sextortion 🔹 Financial & Economic: Controlling money, preventing someone from working or attending school, or restricting access to bank accounts 🔹 Technological: Tracking someone’s location, monitoring phones or social media, using technology to harass, stalk, or intimidate, demanding passwords to personal online accounts Abuse is never the victim’s fault. How can you help? 💜 Listen without judgment and believe survivors. 💜 Offer support and respect their choices. 💜 Help connect them with resources and safety-planning services. 💜 Learn the warning signs and help educate others. 💜 Support local domestic violence organizations by donations, volunteering, or advocacy. If you or someone you know needs help: 📞 National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) 📱 Text: START to 88788 💻 Chat: thehotline.org The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7, free, confidential, and in multiple languages. 🚨 If you are in immediate danger, call 911. To every survivor: We see you. We believe you. You are not alone. 💜 Together, we can raise awareness, support survivors, and work toward a community where everyone feels safe. #DomesticViolenceAwareness #PVPD #PurpleRibbon #EndDomesticViolence #Support #ParadiseValleyPD

🎀 October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. 🎀 Breast cancer can affect anyone, and awareness is an important part of protecting your health and supporting those around you. This month, we encourage our community to take a moment to learn about breast cancer, understand your personal risk, and stay up to date with recommended screenings. 💗 Know your risk: Talk with your healthcare provider about your individual risk factors and screening recommendations. 💗 Get screened: Regular mammograms can help detect breast cancer early, when it may be easier to treat. 💗 Know the signs: Be aware of changes in your breasts and speak with a healthcare provider if you notice anything unusual. 💗 Support one another: Show compassion and support to those currently battling breast cancer, survivors, and the families and loved ones standing beside them. Early detection can save lives. This October, let’s come together to raise awareness, encourage one another to prioritize our health, and show support for everyone impacted by breast cancer. 🎀💗 This October, the Paradise Valley Police Department stands with those currently battling breast cancer, survivors, their families, and everyone working toward a future with fewer lives impacted by this disease. 💗 Together, we can make a difference. #BreastCancerAwareness #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #EarlyDetection #KnowYourRisk #GetScreened #KnowTheSigns #BreastHealth #SupportOneAnother #October #ParadiseValleyPD #ParadiseValleyAZ

September may be Suicide Prevention & Awareness Month, but conversations about mental health should not end when the month does. One way we can continue changing the narrative around suicide is by making it more normal to talk about mental health, ask for support, and seek help when we need it. There is no single way that someone experiencing a difficult time may look or act, and there may not always be visible warning signs. What we can do is help create a community where people do not have to hide what they are experiencing or feel ashamed for asking for support. Mental health conversations belong in everyday life. Asking for help is okay. Offering a listening ear is okay. And connecting someone with professional support is okay. As September comes to a close, we encourage our community to carry that message forward throughout the year. If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. If there is an immediate threat to life or safety, call 911.
