Ever notice the cross and three dots in our logo? Tetelestai. "It is finished." John 19:30. The work of saving us is done. The three dots are the three days to the empty tomb. And "to be continued," because God's not finished with us yet. Faith, one step at a time. ✝️…

Saturday question: are you a "trailhead by sunrise" hiker or a "leave when the coffee kicks in" hiker? Either way, His mercy is there when you wake up. "...his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV)
Shoutout to my brother Mark Moore and Shanktification, a golf-and-faith devotional. He finds God on the fairway like we do on the trail. "Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17 Go give him a follow 👇 youtube.com/@shanktification

Twelve scouts saw the same land. Ten came back talking about giants. Caleb came back talking about what God could do. "Let us go up at once and occupy it, for we are well able to overcome it." Numbers 13:30 (ESV) Coming to Pack Light: Giants in the Grass.

Trail fatigue is real. So is a strength that isn't your own "but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint." Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)

Honest question for the hikers: what's one piece of gear you were *sure* you needed and never once used? I'll go first: heavy kitchen kit Funny how much we carry "just in case." Makes me wonder what else I'm hauling that God never asked me to pack. 🎒

The Jordan was at flood stage, and God told the priests carrying the ark to walk into it. Not to wait on the bank until it went down. To step in. (1/3)

"...and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water..." Joshua 3:15 (ESV) "...the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap..." Joshua 3:16 (ESV) The water moved after their feet got wet, not before. (2/3)

Every water crossing feels like that. The far bank looks fine, the middle looks deep, and the first step is the hard one. So here's my question: what's your river? One of the first Pack Light episodes is called Step In. (3/3)

Nobody finishes a trail by staring at the summit. You finish it one step, then the next one. "The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way; though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand." Psalm 37:23-24 (ESV)

New week, and I'm praying for you. Whatever you're carrying into it, God already knows. "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2 (ESV)

Hikers look up at a climb and size it up. The psalmist looked up and asked a better question. "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:1-2 (ESV)

Honest question: where do you hear God most clearly? On a trail, in the truck, at the kitchen table, or somewhere else? "And after the fire the sound of a low whisper." 1 Kings 19:12 (ESV)

Elijah hit the bottom and told God, "It is enough." God's answer wasn't a lecture. It was a nap and a meal. "Arise and eat, for the journey is too great for you." 1 Kings 19:7 (ESV) First Pack Light episode: Sit Down. Eat.

The stuff you were sure you needed is what wears you out by mile after mile. "...let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us." Hebrews 12:1 (ESV) What could you set down?

I'm Chris, and I'm starting a podcast called Pack Light: one trail story, one passage of Scripture, one honest takeaway. Home studio for now, back on the trail next year. The trail is the illustration. Jesus is the point. First episode soon.
