Can we all agree that students can’t learn in classrooms with sweltering extreme heat? That’s a start. #commonground This legislation will require all of us adults to figure out a solution to protect kids… let’s get started!. @nysut

Our bill is already starting to make change even before it’s signed. Now we just need @GovKathyHochul to sign it to protect our kids by establishing max temperatures in the classroom. @NYSUT

This week is a scorcher in our classrooms we need action! We recently secured legislation, sponsored by @jamesskoufis and @EachusAD99, to set maximum temps in schools. Now, the governor’s signature is all we need for this bill to become law.

At last night’s #GoldenGlobes, Paul Giamatti commended teachers in his acceptance speech for Male Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy.
Shoutouts like these are a great reminder that our members’ work doesn’t go unnoticed!

Don’t sweat it, @NYSUT’s got your back. Today we’re at the Capitol in Albany to pass legislation that sets a max temp in our classrooms. Thank you to all the legislators who stopped by to feel the heat and support this bill.

Teachers play a powerful role in shaping our views of the world and our place in it. We carry the best of their wisdom with us throughout our lives. This weekend I joined @NYSUT to celebrate many of those doing this important work.
On #TeacherAppreciationDay and every day, we thank you, teachers!

The pension reforms included in the final State Budget sound small but are significant to the average career educator in Tier 6. It could be a difference of $100,000 over the course of their retirement. These are important steps to #FixTier6. @NYSUT

The enacted state budget will restore proposed year-to-year cuts in foundation aid by preserving the save-harmless and restoring most of the overall cuts. This would not have happened without the perseverance of our members and allies fighting to stick up for what matters. I want to thank you all for your support and advocacy and for helping to make this possible.— school aid runs can be found here:

Education advocates are continuing to pushback against proposed Foundation Aid cuts for New York schools. Schools play an increasingly vital role in supporting students and families. We must ensure they have the necessary resources to fulfill this critical mission. @NYSUT

Happy Paraprofessional Appreciation Day!
Serving a variety of capacities in the daily lives of students, paraprofessionals provide crucial services that help assist students’ needs. Thank you to our paraprofessionals (also called SRPs) for going above and beyond each day.

Great to be back on Long Island speaking at @Sayvillek12. The students and staff were phenomenal. It makes a huge difference when the teachers and administrators show how much they care. #newyork @SayvilleStrides
