๐ From Addis Ababa to Bujumbura: three days of moving youth voices closer to the decisions that shape peace, security and governance in Africa.
๐๏ธ Day 1 put implementation at the center: from the handover of youth recommendations emerging from Addis Ababa to discussions on #YPS, #WPS, water governance, AI, and the role of the next generation of African peacebuilders.
๐ Day 2 went deeper. Four parallel sessions explored practical pathways for change, while the African Youth Charter @ 20 discussions asked whether 20 years of commitments are truly reflected in young peopleโs lives. The plenary brought forward recommendations for stronger youth representation, inclusive YPS implementation, economic opportunities and more responsive institutions.
๐ช Day 3, International Youth Day, connected policy with action. From youth skills at CEFORE-RUSI to 10 community-led initiatives showcased during #InkerebutsiDay, young people demonstrated that they are not only the leaders of tomorrow. They are already building peace and development today.
๐ The message from Bujumbura is clear: youth participation must go beyond consultation. Young people need meaningful space to influence policy, implementation and accountability.
From consultation โก๏ธ influence.
From commitments โก๏ธ action.
From youth voices โก๏ธ youth power.

Unfortunately this is already happening.
Carrying forward the spirit of the African Youth Charter @20: From Promise to Prosperity Side Event, Amb. Rose-Quatre called on young people to keep asking hard questions, demand results and take their place in shaping the institutions that serve them.

Some of the barriers for young people in accessing employment.
(1/5) #InternationalYouthDay2026: What are the primary barriers to youth employment? African youth cite inadequate training, lack of work experience, unwillingness to work certain jobs, and mismatch in skills and training.

The Ministry of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs has begun nationwide Universal Periodic Review (UPR) consultations with Civil Society Organizations across the country. These consultations will run until 21 August 2026.
The consultations aim to ensure the national human rights report reflects ground realities by:
- gathering accurate data on local human rights issues
- giving a voice to overlooked and vulnerable communities
- promoting transparent state reporting
- strengthening long term frameworks for tracking and implementation
Civil Society Organizations are encouraged to attend.
Majority of Zim'ans want to comply unfortunately, our governance is vertical divided:
* conflicting central and local governance laws-procedures.
* Law and policies are hurriedly made to serve politically exposed people
* laws are designed to punish rather encourage compliance
Unfortunately this is all citizens can do, a week to a monthly letter they will be back to finish their exploration. @InfoMinZW @Min_of_IC @MinistryMines
