10–15 years ago in #Goa, Ganpati Visarjan was largely conducted in a disciplined and respectful manner, with processions and fireworks generally concluding by around 11 p.m. Today, Visarjan often continues late into the night and sometimes until early morning. The issue is not the timing of Visarjan itself, but the excessive use of fireworks and loud sound systems during processions. Air and noise #pollution can affect hospital patients, senior citizens, children, working people and residential neighbourhoods & we should also be mindful that people of different faiths live alongside us. The increasing number of people begging on Goa’s roads has become a serious concern, particularly from the perspective of child safety and traffic management. What is more worrying is that very young children who are barely a foot tall, are being sent onto busy roads for begging by their parents. These children are too young to understand traffic movement and the dangers around vehicles. As a driver, it can sometimes be extremely difficult to see such a small child standing close to the front of a vehicle because the child may be below the bonnet’s line of sight. A blunderous move by the ruling government. If reports are correct that NPCI is already in surplus & banks are making profits, then why introduce charges on UPI transactions above ₹2,000? What is the actual cost of running the #UPI system? Can the government explain it transparently? Pay ₹3,000 to a merchant, or transfer ₹3,000 to a friend, the underlying digital transaction is still happening through the same UPI infrastructure. So why should there be two different policies for what is essentially the same mode of payment? Before burdening citizens & businesses with new charges, the government should explain the rationale, the actual cost involved, and who ultimately benefits.

Two of my friends just arrived in #Goa, checked into their hotel, and within 30 minutes received a WhatsApp message offering escort services. At this rate, is Goa promoting tourism or has tourism promotion quietly taken a whole new direction? 🤦🏻‍♂️ Maybe the Tourism Department needs to rethink what kind of “welcome” visitors are actually getting. Who shared their numbers or does technology is far to ahead than what we think ?

Amazing what an #election can do. 😏 Potholes suddenly get repaired. #Garbage suddenly disappears. Broken infrastructure suddenly gets replaced and all that from the candidate’s own pocket. A few weeks of “public service” before #voting day 🗳️.... Then, mysteriously, the service disappears for 4 more years again.

India’s push for ethanol blending is reshaping commodity economics. No doubt that it's affecting vehicle 🚙🛵engines but ... When more sugarcane juice/syrup & molasses are diverted to ethanol production, less sugar reaches the market which is affecting sugar prices. At the same time, higher feed costs, particularly maize, can raise poultry costs and eventually affect egg 🥚 prices. In my opinion, the state government should not consider an #VoterID as valid proof of an individual’s state origin, especially when numerous cases of duplicate entries have been identified by private individuals as well as by the #ElectionCommission itself.
