“Not non inferior to”…. For a trial that was stopped prematurely for signal of increased mortality! Academia really has a way with words 😅😅
Presented at #LIVES2026: An open-label, randomized, noninferiority trial showed that intermittent hemodialysis was not noninferior to continuous renal-replacement therapy in critically ill adults with acute kidney injury. Internet last few weeks: “AI has solved these decade old problem individuals were struggling with” Individuals in concern:
This looks nice but it’s hardly an unsolved problem. It’s literally loading an open source DICOM viewer. This problem is so thoroughly solved that there are dozens of DICOM libraries and thousands of labeled teaching images to choose from. (Also the post is AI slop writing)

“Our AI has achieved human intelligence “ No it has got really good at plagiarizing human intelligence 😅
This is the textbook definition of a Greek gift. On the surface, OpenAI generously grants 10,000 top-tier mathematicians and elite engineers free access to their frontier models under the noble, philanthropic banner of accelerating scientific discovery, pushing the boundaries of human knowledge, and democratizing artificial intelligence. But deep down in the cold reality of Silicon Valley capitalism, what they are actually doing is executing a massive, highly sophisticated intellectual heist. They are quietly gaining unrestricted, backdoor access to the raw, unfiltered, and unpublished works of the absolute finest minds in the global scientific community. Every single complex prompt, every mathematical query, every theoretical framework, and every line of experimental code fed into that system is a novel, groundbreaking idea that does not even exist yet in published academic literature or peer-reviewed journals. OpenAI does not just provide a helpful service. Their corporate algorithms sit quietly behind the scenes, aggressively monitoring all chat logs, scraping the intellectual property, analyzing the logical steps, and meticulously piecing together these fragmented, brilliant ideas over several months. And just when the human researcher is finally on the absolute brink of putting everything together, OpenAI will ruthlessly assemble a digital army of 10,000 autonomous AI agents, burn $20 million worth of computational tokens, and brute-force the final mathematical steps. Then, with the backing of their massive PR machine, corporate journalists, and tech influencers, they will proudly hold a press conference to claim that their proprietary chatbot has miraculously solved a Millennium Prize problem, completely, shamelessly erasing the human genius they systematically strip-mined to achieve it.

A hard hitting fascinating read. It is hard to argue. However, medicine, its custodians and its practitioners are to Blame for this paradox. The day we chose to replace value with prestige 💔

Back in 2014 the Nobel Prize was awarded to the Mosers for their discovery of brain grid cells, our inner GPS system. This week, their navigation system work extended to discover the brain's searchlight. The brain moves before the body towards an object of attention. Active during REM sleep. Check out the video. Remarkable. @ScienceMagazine science.org/doi/full/10.1126… youtube.com/watch?v=vyFWD6U7…

An eye opening study reflecting the state of healthcare and why it still remains so unattainable to the majority
US nonprofit hospitals spent $7.8 billion on management consultants from 2009 to 2023, but contracts were not associated with meaningful changes in finance, operations, or quality of care. 🧵 ja.ma/4d46zfq

An amazing moment for the Sarcoidosis community of Kentucky! Governor @AndyBeshearKY ‘s office declares April as the “Sarcoidosis Awareness month”. It will go a long way to create support for those struggling with Sarcoidosis. @StopSarcoidosis @SarcoidosisUK

“We must raise the floor and not the ceiling”… well said 👏🏽👏🏽
Who would have thought? Industry-sponsored trials demand far stricter oversight. While thousands die without timely access to PPCI, we spend millions on devices that provide only financial benefits. To truly improve STEMI outcomes today-we must raise the floor, not the ceiling.

After decades of teaching trainees and students, I’ve learned that the human mind often faces three core limitations: gaps in knowledge, weaknesses in critical thinking, and difficulty translating ideas into actionable strategy. In this paper, we introduce a framework for how AI can augment human capacity and help bridge these gaps. I greatly appreciate my fellow co-authors for their thoughtful contributions and collaboration in developing this important concept. @ATSScholar @UTAustin @atscommunity “Defining Physician-AI Collaboration in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine: Concepts and Illustrative Examples for Clinical Reasoning” academic.oup.com/atsscholar/…

All of us shocked by what a world-beating Indian test team has become; this is EXACTLY what happens when you place mediocrity at the top of any organization. Brings down an enitre culture of excellence because excellence isnt something they understand/ have achieved 🤷🏽‍♂️😞

To justify that Vande Mataram is about Ma Durga, Ms Deshpande ignores 3 stanzas of praising the riverine fertile motherland and jumps to stanza 4 where the poet likens the mother to Durga AND Lakshmi (Kamala) and Saraswati. Our teachers would hang their heads in shame
OMG I need your confidence!! You know more than Sri Aurobindo. Please enlighten us sir!

Next time we doubt ourselves or think of limitations/obstacles, let us remember this example. Sheetal devi, a para athlete with phocomelia shoots arrows with her feet. Was selected for the REGULAR junior national team in open trials 🙏🏽❤️
Wow! @ArcherSheetal selected for the 🇮🇳 able body Archery team for Jr Asia Cup Stage 3. 3rd in the trials today. 1st time an 🇮🇳 Para athlete has been selected to represent 🇮🇳 in an International able body event. So proud to support Sheetal on this inspiring journey @OGQ_India

GBM, a death sentence. Whenever asked what disease I fear the most, Ive always said GBM and MND, two diseases with no “cure” yet, almost always fatal and quite debilitating. But then this is what science does, gives you hope when there seems none. More power to science.🙏🏽❤️
A single dose of a new cancer drug made a brain tumor almost disappear – in just five days. Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital reported “dramatic and rapid” tumor regression in the first patients treated with a next-generation form of CAR T-cell therapy for glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive brain cancers known. The therapy, called CARv3-TEAM-E, was developed to overcome a major hurdle in treating solid tumors: their ability to hide from the immune system. The personalized treatment reprograms a patient’s immune cells to attack the tumor, and in one extraordinary case, nearly eliminated the cancer within just five days. This novel therapy is designed to target multiple features of the tumor at once, a strategy that may help overcome the common challenge of treatment resistance in solid tumors like glioblastoma. Although the tumors eventually returned, the early outcomes were described as unprecedented. One patient saw a 60% reduction in tumor size that lasted for half a year—an impressive result in a cancer known for its aggressiveness. The trial’s success marks a major step forward for immunotherapy in brain cancer and raises new hopes for long-term control or even a cure. Researchers are now working to refine the treatment and extend its effects, with the ultimate goal of turning a once-terminal diagnosis into a survivable condition.
