Agreed. He doesn't have a mandate for this. If he wants to call an election and win on a manifesto that includes this then fine, but for now ..... No.

The UK government has, since April, spent no less than £61 billion - that’s £61,000,000,000 - on debt interest payments.
That’s equivalent to our entire annual defence budget - on just half a year’s worth of debt service costs, not paying back a penny of our national debt.
For £61bn you could build 40 state-of-the-art hospitals.
Or employ 100,000 nurses for a decade
Or fund free-at-the-point-of-use social care, across the entire UK, for three years.
Watch this short “When The Facts Change” video for more on the UK’s soaring debt interest bill - the biggest national scandal our mainstream media continues to ignore.

The claim that the UK could have built a 'trillion pound wealth fund' from oil and gas revenues is pure political theatre, but I suppose we should be relieved that Treasury officials have nothing more pressing to do! 🙄
Three more substantial points... 🧵
We create our own problems in this country, our own legislation prevents us from sorting these situations out. Madness 🤦
- Literal convicted ISIS terrorist
- served 4+ years in prison in Germany for terrorist activities
- ECHR Art 3 blocks his removal to Iraq
- subsequently enters Britain illegally by small boat in December 2025
- arrested days later
- sentenced to two years in prison in July 2026
- released from prison last week
- made a fresh application to remain in Britain, delaying Home Office extradition attempts
- still a literal ISIS terrorist

Andrew says the Single Market isn't *just* about moving goods without tariffs.
Well the Single Market isn't about that at all - as that is the job of the Customs Union.
Ten years later and the most vocal EU activists *still* don't know anything about the EU. At all.

FYI, this '£250 million a day' in lost tax revenues is yet another zombie statistic which fails a basic smell test.
It's derived from the NBER's claim of an 8% hit to GDP, which has now been widely debunked (including by Bloomberg).

This is economic illiteracy of a high order.
After separation Scotland would still use sterling. So it would have to borrow in £s to cover its massive budget deficit and promise lenders it would pay back in £s (or they won’t lend).
But after an unspecified transition it would move to a Scottish currency. But all the borrowing done during the transition would have to be paid back in sterling.
If the Scottish currency plummeted v sterling (likely given the size of the deficit, lack of credit track record etc) that could become an unmanageable burden given the likely poor exchange rate.
Scotland would have to borrow billions in its own currency just to convert to sterling to pay back lenders. Devaluing the Scottish currency further.
What a shambles that would be.
He has no idea what he’s talking about.
