Excited to share our paper from my PhD work, where we determined the beautiful structure, not biased, of Bdellovibrio’s major OMP. This revealed a previously unseen pentameric structure. Want to know more? Then have a read. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Great two days at Proteins by Candlelight. Always fun to chat about structural biology with peers and share ideas. Lots of interesting talks & posters. Also, thank you to the organisers for presenting me the Best Poster Prize for my poster on my work on an OMP from Bdellovibrio.

Fantastic 8 days at @EMBLHamburg on the @EMBO Membrane Protein Expression, Purification and Characterisation Course! Loved expanding my knowledge on crystallography of membrane proteins with the beamline scientists and setting up my own LCP trays. (1/2)

As well as developing skills in HEK and insect cells MP expression, neg stain EM and reconstitution in proteoliposomes. Massive thank you to all the organisers and speakers for the brilliant practicals and talks, and for answering all of our questions throughout the week 👍🏼 (2/2)

Missing the great views from ESRF last week! 🥲 Great to get to actually go to the synchrotron, remote sessions just aren’t quite the same.
If you haven’t seen this already, check out this beautiful protein structure 😍
There are 202 new PDB entries this week, including this structure of the Human caveolin-1 complex (7sc0), a 'membrane-sculpting' structure which generates curvature in plasma membranes, published in Sci Adv @sciencemagazine. View all new entries: pdbe.org/latest

Brilliant. Another huge breakthrough in the fight against MRSA. This is what happens when you back British life sciences 👇 expressandstar.com/news/uk-n…
Great first time at the JAM talks at UoB today. The first talk on the evolution of Oxa-48 and the second a little further away from home a talk on how CO2 effects fungi in forests.
