Chelsea are probably the only club with big trophies that I still consider a small club. Winning trophies doesn't automatically make you a giant. Chelsea fans celebrate the Conference League and Europa League like they've conquered Europe. Even West Ham don't make that much noise about the Conference League. Their European presence is also inconsistent. A couple of seasons in the Champions League, then disappearance. There's a difference between winning trophies and having the history, stature and consistency of a genuinely big club. Chelsea have had success, but that doesn't automatically make them giants.

Maresca layed the foundation for what Chelsea is under Alonso. Enzo Maresca even though was sabotaging Chelsea from within, deserves some credit for building Chelsea’s current identity. He did the heavy lifting, transforming us from a chaotic transitional team into an organized, positional machine. However, it was Alonso who has truly elevated us. Alonso stepped in, ironed out Maresca’s defensive flaws and is taking us us back into top 4 PL contenders. Without Maresca's tactical groundwork, Alonso would have nothing. Maresca built the engine but Alonso is learning how to actually drive it to glory.
