Last night is one I won’t forget anytime soon and I still don’t know how it will end. 🥺 I got home around 9:30 and let the dogs out to potty like I usually do. They both went to the far side of the back yard and were sniffing around. Suddenly Jagger yelps and comes trotting back to the house with his left eye squinted up. I tried to check for any wounds but he didn’t want me to mess with him. After about 20 long minutes, I made the decision to take him to the emergency vet. 💨🚗 Arrived at 10:20 and 5 hours and $1,600.00 later, we still don’t know exactly what happened. Could it have been a snake bite? Maybe. Some other kind of bite? Who knows? What I do know is that his poor face is swollen up and he has a ruptured ulcer or abscess under his left eye. I also know that most people can’t afford emergency veterinary care with the prices they charge. I took him home with meds against their advice (they wanted to keep him until Monday) because I couldn’t afford the cost of a short term hospitalization. So here we are with pain meds and antibiotics on deck hoping for the best. Send my little old man all the love, light, and healing vibes you can for a speedy recovery and this poor momma any extra strength and love you have left over.

Our sweet beautiful Rylee went to Doggie Heaven yesterday! She was so loved but we know she is free and running and playing. Her sister Harlee is missing her as much as Bob and I. 💔

Winston has already endured more suffering than any dog should ever have to experience. He was recently released from a cruelty case and is now being transferred to us at Harley's House of Dreams (Harley's Dream) from a local shelter. This tiny, underweight Chihuahua was found in a hot car, in a small kennel, and wearing a diaper so full of urine and feces that it had caused dermatitis on his scrotum. I know this is heartbreaking to read, it's heartbreaking to write, too. He also has severely luxating patellas (kneecaps that slip out of place), dental disease, and lingering skin irritation. We'll take care of all his medical needs once he's in our care, and we'll make sure the rest of his life he is safe and happy and most importantly, loved.
