I don't know who needs to read this today, but it's a great message ❤️
Today is World Mental Health Day.
So today, I want to remind you of something important: There is always hope.
Even when it doesn’t feel like it.
And listen, I know this time of year can be especially tough. We see it in our readership. And the online discourse that can feel like it’s been born from a volcano of toxicity. The days feel heavier, the weight of headlines seems relentless and the pressure to keep it all together can be overwhelming. It’s easy to feel like we’re carrying the world on our shoulders.
But here’s the thing though: Sometimes, it only takes one story of hope to change how we see everything.
A single reminder that light exists, even in the darkest moments, can (sometimes) shift our entire perspective.
I believe the way we see the world isn’t just shaped by what happens to us; it’s deeply influenced by the stories we tell ourselves. The narrative we choose to focus on—whether it’s one of fear and uncertainty or one of hope and possibility—has the power to transform our mood, our mindset, and our future.
So maybe we should choose to tell the stories that lift us up. The ones that remind us of the goodness that exists both around us and, just as importantly, within us.
And then we need to hold on to being thankful and grateful.
Gratitude is one of the most powerful tools we have. When we focus on the small wins, the little things that bring us joy, and the beauty in everyday moments, we begin to shift our mindset. We move from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered, from being stuck in negativity to seeing the opportunities for growth, connection, and happiness. It’s a mindset of resilience—a conscious decision to see the good alongside the challenges.
Remember, “I get to” instead of “I have to”.
Oh, this doesn’t mean ignoring the hard stuff. Life will always have its ups and downs, and we can’t wish that away. We can, however, choose how we respond. Someone once said life is 10% what happens to you and 90% reaction. Looking at life through this lens can make tough times a little easier to get through.
But friends, terms and conditions apply: Not everyone is able to pull themselves out of a space where they may feel hopeless. We are all dealing with stuff on a different level. Everything I have just said might look like a complete world salad to a person who can't see the wood for the trees. It’s tough out there. Everyone is holding on by a thin-thin thread.
That’s why days like World Mental Health Day are so important. To have the conversations. To give each other a safe space to be. And that’s also why kindness is so bladdy important. Be kinder than necessary or needed. In every moment.
I love you. And I am sending you all the good things.
Please try to hold on to hope. And if you can't, then please reach out. Be kind to yourself and others. And above all, remember that we’re all in this together. Every single one of us.
Okay. Love you. Bye.

It hurts so bad when losing a Test, but what we learned about the players and their character under trying circumstances with a little over a year to the RWC was invaluable. “Its never fun getting a loss next to your team in a Test match. Its really not lekka!”
