First, governments spend too much. Then, they tax too much. After, they print more to "stimulate" the economy. Thus, inflation soars and they economy stagnates... And they repeat.

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon warns Europe is falling dangerously behind America economically… and blames anti-business, anti-investment, and anti-innovation policies. 🇺🇸🇪🇺 “If you don’t believe me, go to Europe, folks. Europe used to have a GDP per person of 90% of America’s. It’s now 65%. It’s on its way to 50%. That will jeopardize the health of Europe itself over time. And it’s all anti-business, anti-investment, anti-innovation. They kind of know it. If they don’t fix it—and we should help them fix it, because Europe matters—it’s really bad for the Western world, too. We should do it wisely.” Europe shift over the past three decades has proven decimating for their economy. Aging population forces mass immigration in order to maintain adequate growth. Crazy regulation and bureaucracy slows innovation and investment… forcing the economy further down. At the same time, the United States has pulled ahead exponentially and will continue to do so. Europe is struggling.

Good Morning from Germany, where one of Europe’s biggest landlords calls the country “uninvestable.” Heimstaden is withholding fresh capital over Berlin’s expropriation plans. It owns 20,000 apartments in the city worth ~€5bn and estimates a potential €1bn loss. Its hybrid bond has plunged from ~98 cents in August to 82.5. The irony: a policy meant to tackle the housing shortage risks driving away investment without building a single new home. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

France has very high social spending, even by the standards of social democrats, yet somehow it’s not enough:
There’s more than enough wealth to fund the healthcare, education, and quality public services necessary to ensure a good and just life for all. It just happens to be in the wrong hands.

Let me get this straight. The same people that complain about the cost of living think that more government spending, more money printing and more migration will solve it. Fascinating

Just imagine French voters and politicians were exposured to Bastiat instead of Piketty. Then France wouldn't be in this mess.

France's collapse is the direct consequence of following Piketty and Zucman's recommendations of massive government, huge spending, high taxes and uncontrolled migration. Now they give lessons.

Good Morning from Germany, where wholesale power prices are increasingly topping €200/MWh vs an avg of just €96.6 since late June 2024. The latest day-ahead price is €210.67, up 12.5%. France: €212. Spain: €193. Nordic benchmark: €105. Expensive gas, weaker wind and rising heating demand are squeezing much of Europe. Another headwind for Europe's industry before winter even begins.

Socialists discovered that corporations have too much power and proposed merging your employer, landlord and grocery store into one institution with a police force and military.

We really have to start treating socialists like economic flat earthers. They operate at the same level of sophistication, can't understand basic concepts provable w/evidence etc. I don't understand why they're part of the adult discourse (no one at NASA thinks space is fake)

One of the most toxic lies in the European public debate: "If you don’t run enormous structural deficits and high debt, you’re doing “austerity” and starving people." We keep calling “austerity” the simple idea of not letting the state go bankrupt. Total economic illiteracy.
