Such a waste of a life. RIP, Brother 💙 The wife of PC Matthew Blades, one of our officers who was sadly killed in the collision on the A66 in the early hours of Saturday 22 August 2026, has paid the following tribute to him: "No words will ever feel like the right words to honour our Matt — my beloved husband, my best friend, and the most devoted father to our two young boys. "He was an adored son and brother, a perfect son-in-law, and the most fun uncle. He was loved beyond words by all his family and friends, and his loss has left a space that can never be filled. "He gave his life in the line of duty, protecting and serving others with courage, dedication and selflessness. "The pain of losing him is beyond words, and our lives will never be the same. Neither will the love he gave us ever fade. "Our children will grow up knowing what an incredible father he was and will always be, and I will carry his love, his memory and everything we shared with me always. "He may have left this world committed to the duty he believed in, but his greatest legacy will always be the love he gave to his family. "We would also like to express our deepest gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all of the emergency services and to our police family who have stood beside us through the most difficult time of our lives. "The kindness, compassion, love and unwavering support we have received as a family has meant more to us than words could ever express. Every message, visit, gesture of support and every person who has stood alongside us will never be forgotten. Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our superhero. Our Matt and Dad❤️" Cleveland Police.

🚨 TEACHER AVOIDS PRISON | 33,000+ CHILD ABUSE IMAGES INCLUDING CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 2 Paul Aspden, 71, a former Nottinghamshire teacher who spent 35 years teaching children, has avoided immediate prison despite possessing more than 33,000 indecent images of children. Police seized his devices from his Bingham home in November 2024. The collection included 3,349 Category A images, the most serious classification, including footage depicting the rape of a two-year-old child. Aspden admitted accessing the material since “the early days of the internet”. At Nottingham Crown Court, he received a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years. Judge Nirmal Shant KC said Aspden had been “concealing a double life”, adding that his former career as a teacher made the case all the worse. He must attend 20 rehabilitation sessions and is subject to a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order. He will also remain on the sex offenders register for 10 years. More than 33,000 images. Victims as young as two. No immediate prison. Source UK Database.

🚨 ONE TO WATCH - BLUEGEONED DOG TO DEATH WITH A SAUCEPAN 🚨 JORDANNA LEIGH WHEELER 🌎 LOUGHOR, SWANSEA Jordanna Leigh Wheeler bludgeoned her dog, Anubis, to death with a saucepan after returning home drunk from a party. She later told hospital staff she had woken up covered in vomit and discovered she had “battered him to death”. Police found the large brown Mastiff dead on his bed. A severely deformed saucepan bearing dog hair was also recovered. Wheeler was originally given a suspended prison sentence and a 10-year ban on keeping animals, but she repeatedly breached her curfew, skipped rehabilitation sessions and missed probation appointments. She also admitted leaving home to visit pubs and parks and take cocaine. Last week (March 2026), Judge Geraint Walters activated the suspended sentence, jailing her for 12 months, with up to half to be served in custody and the remainder on licence. Anubis suffered a horrific death. Wheeler was put behind bards, but only after repeatedly breaching the order imposed following his killing. Source UKACF.

A reminder of this animal abuser who violently beat a puppy to death. Thomas James Eddinson, from Gainsborough, beat one-year-old Jack Russell Oreo to death in a sustained attack while caring for his partner’s dog. A post-mortem revealed horrific injuries, including a ruptured liver, extensive internal bleeding, bruising across his body and damage to his brain and eye. Afterwards, Eddinson sent his ex-partner a video taunting her about what he had done. In March 2021, he admitted causing unnecessary suffering to an animal. He received an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for two years, 150 hours of unpaid work and a 10-year ban on keeping animals. The court heard he had experienced foster care, mental health difficulties and dyslexia in mitigation. Oreo lost his life in a brutal attack. Eddinson avoided imprisonment.

Another nonce, another suspended sentence. 🚨 CHILD ABUSE IMAGE DISTRIBUTOR AVOIDS IMMEDIATE JAIL - SOME VICTIMS AS YOUNG AS 3 Gary Oglesby, 67, of Anlaby Common, used apps to conceal indecent images of children, including a “Secret Photo Vault”, Hull Crown Court heard. His collection included images of a boy aged just 3–5. He admitted six offences of making indecent images of children, alongside distributing indecent images and possessing extreme pornography involving bestiality. Police uncovered evidence that he distributed images via WhatsApp between 2019 and 2020. The material included Category A images — the most serious classification — as well as Category B and C images. Other images dated back to 2009–10. Recorder Taryn Turner said his offending went “significantly beyond simple possession”, warning that viewing and distributing the material sustained demand for abuse that causes children “profound and lasting harm”. His sentence? Two years and eight months in prison, suspended. He must comply with probation requirements, has been made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will remain on the sex offenders register indefinitely. The children depicted were real victims of sexual abuse. Every image shared circulates their exploitation again, stripping them of privacy and control over the record of their abuse, yet Oglesby will not go straight to prison. Source UK Database.

In a heartbreaking statement, her father described how she struggled even to hug him after the abuse and feared the emotional scars could remain for life. 🚨 VOLUNTEER IMAM JAILED FOR SIX YEARS AFTER SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO GIRLS AGED JUST FIVE AND SEVEN Shah Masukur Rashid, 45, exploited his position as a volunteer Quranic tutor at a mosque in Cheltenham to gain unsupervised access to young children in family homes. Between October 2018 and January 2019, he sexually touched two girls, aged five to seven, over and under their clothing. Gloucester Crown Court convicted Rashid of six counts of sexual assault — two involving one girl and four involving the other. His abuse came to light after the children were overheard describing him as “creepy”. When relatives questioned them, the girls disclosed what he had done during their Quran lessons. Rashid was supposed to be teaching children, not abusing the trust placed in him by their families. He was jailed for six years.

They never change. 🚨 FOUR-TIME CONVICTED PAEDOPHILE CAUGHT TARGETING UNDERCOVER OFFICER POSING AS NINE-YEAR-OLD GIRL Jordan Taphouse, 31, of Tunbridge Wells, has admitted another string of offences despite previous convictions, community orders and restrictions on his internet use. The supermarket worker sent a Category B child sexual abuse video to an undercover officer posing as a nine-year-old girl under the name “Chloe” and asked sexually explicit questions. Taphouse admitted six counts of possessing indecent images of children, two breaches of sex offender notification requirements and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order. Investigators found images across all three categories, including Category A, the most serious. He had previously faced court over similar offending in 2022, 2024 and 2025. The court heard he used aliases, deleted his browsing history and accessed prohibited browsers to evade restrictions. Prosecutor David Holman said attempts to restrict Taphouse’s internet use had failed to change his behaviour, stressing that the offences involved real victims. The case was sent to Maidstone Crown Court for sentencing, and Taphouse was remanded in custody. At the time of the report, no sentencing date had been fixed. Source UK Database.

🚨 VICAR WHO ABUSED A THREE-YEAR-OLD GIRL JAILED FOR NINE YEARS Gordon Newton, 40, a former Church of England clergyman who worked in Batley, West Yorkshire, has been jailed for nine years and seven months after admitting 12 offences, including six counts of sexually assaulting a girl under 13. His crimes came to light when his wife handed an old mobile phone to police. Officers found 276 indecent images of children, including 70 in the most serious category. His browsing history also revealed a search suggesting an interest in images involving children younger than three. Leeds Crown Court heard Newton had confessed to a sexual interest in children over a period of years. His offending devastated his wife, leaving her suffering depression and shattering her religious faith. Judge Tom Bayliss condemned Newton’s “extremely wicked series of acts”, telling him: “You held yourself out as a man of God but you're nothing. You're a hypocrite.” The judge said Newton had betrayed the child, his wife, parishioners and church authorities. Newton, of Huddersfield, was placed on the sex offenders register for life and made subject to a sexual offences prevention order. Source UK Database.

⚖️ FORMER IMMIGRATION JUDGE AVOIDED IMMEDIATE JAIL AFTER CHILD ABUSE IMAGE CONVICTION Michael Shrimpton, a barrister and former fee-paid immigration judge, was convicted in February 2014 of an offence involving indecent images of children. Police recovered 40 images from an encrypted USB memory stick seized during a search of his home in April 2012. Investigators recovered image data that appeared to have been deleted. Despite the conviction, he received a three-year supervision order and a five-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order, rather than immediate imprisonment. He was also subject to sex offender notification requirements. Shrimpton claimed the evidence had been tampered with and that the memory stick had been switched to discredit him. His appeal against the conviction failed. He was later disbarred in 2019. A former member of the legal profession convicted of a child-related offence - yet spared immediate prison. ⚖️ FORMER MAGISTRATE AND CHURCH MINISTER JAILED FOR ABUSING SEVEN BOYS OVER MORE THAN 20 YEARS Robert Dando exploited his respected positions in the church and community to groom and sexually abuse seven boys between 1985 and 2009. The former Oxfordshire magistrate admitted 13 offences involving the victims, who were aged between 10 and 15 during the UK offending. Dando gained parents’ trust, lavished some boys with expensive gifts and even threatened to invent sexual allegations against one victim if he spoke out. Some victims remained silent for years, fearing they would not be believed. He had served as a minister at Bicester’s Orchard Baptist Church and as a governor at Kings Meadow School. In March 2018, Oxford Crown Court jailed him for nine years and four months and imposed a sexual harm prevention order banning contact with children indefinitely. Dando had already served an eight-year sentence in the US for sexually abusing two boys. A position of trust gave him access to children. He exploited that trust for decades.

⚖️ BIRMINGHAM MAGISTRATE JAILED AFTER TODDLER DIED FROM UNTREATED BURNS Rashpal Chana, a Birmingham magistrate and Queen’s Award recipient, was jailed for four-and-a-half years in 2011 for the manslaughter of two-year-old Kristiana Logina. The little girl suffered burns covering 10% of her body, yet medical help was not sought for 10–14 days. Instead, creams and bandages were applied as her damaged skin deteriorated. When Kristiana finally reached Birmingham Children’s Hospital, she died from septic shock. The court heard that prompt medical treatment would have saved her life. Chana, who had taken Kristiana into his Harborne home, was convicted alongside her mother, Eva Logina. She received six years in prison and was also convicted of child cruelty. Mrs Justice Dobbs said Chana had a duty to protect the toddler, although he was not believed to have been present when she was scalded.
