No family should have to fight both a cancer diagnosis and their insurance company at the same time. Women—especially in rural communities like Michigan—should be able to get the genetic testing and specialty care they need to catch this disease early or prevent it altogether.

Gloria was a cherished member of the Emerge family. As a member of our Advisory Board, she was a steadfast supporter of our mission and believed deeply in the power of women to lead and create change. We are profoundly grateful for her friendship, her wisdom, and the many ways she championed Emerge and the women we serve.
Gloria changed the world, and generations of women are stronger because of her. We will miss her dearly and carry her legacy forward in our work every day.

I know a little something about that. When I entered the Senate, I was told I would never even serve on Senate Finance. Now I’m the first Black person to chair it and the first Black woman elected President pro tempore of the Virginia Senate.
I’m proud to serve alongside incredible women and even prouder to make a way for the next generation.
