#SpotTheDifference! Can you differentiate between these headboard details? One is from the 1485 bed made for the 1st #Tudor #monarch, #HenryVII & his wife; the others are poor 1840s copies of this bed by #GeorgeShaw. Want to learn more? Visit @ManCathedral exhibition from 2 July.

Impact in action last night @chethamslibrary; part of my co-curated exhibition & @ahrcpress interpretation project…more to architect George Shaw than a #Tudor #furniture #forger, & everyone in the large audience went away with a new appreciation of his genius & personality.

Really pleased with the long-term interpretation of some of the #Tudor and #Victorian work at @chethamslibrary (latter by local architect George Shaw). All prepared as part of my @ahrcpress impact project via @WSofArchi @cardiffuni 'Tudor Template for a Northern Rouge'.

Very much looking forward to giving this free public lecture next Wednesday on #architect #GeorgeShaw: one of Britain’s most prolific, but, until recently, largely forgotten #forgers of #Tudor #furniture, including this ‘four-poster’ made for the 4th Duke of Northumberland.
Discover the 'maker and faker' of ancient Tudor furniture, George Shaw from Saddleworth. This fascinating talk by @PeterNLindfield is free to attend. 🗓️ 4 Sept, 5.30pm 🎟️Free 📍Baronial Hall, Chetham's Library Book here library.chethams.com/whats-o…

youtu.be/R0NSiEW-7rk?si=B_uh… It is incredibly to think that this rare survival from the lost palace of Westminster is closer in time to 1066 than it is to the present day ! #tudorhistory #HenryVII #HenryVIIbed #ElizabethofYork #furniturehistory #WestminsterPalace #waroftheroses

One of #GeorgeShaw's most impressive pieces of #architecture. Not only designing and building this #GothicRevival pile in 1861, he also furnished its interior, including with suitable #Royal #heraldry—mantled hourglass #escutcheon making it #Tudor—#HyVII.

📷@hevercastle’s #BoleynRoom opens today & one of #GeorgeShaw’s pieces of #fake #Tudor #furniture (hall cupboard made for the Derby family of Knowsley) is featured. What would this Northern Rogue architect-antiquary think of his 1849 fake infiltrating this historical experience?

One of the central characters in the #Tudor bed's #Victorian history is #GeorgeShaw of #Uppermill; an architect, antiquary, and collector of carved oak. Parts detached from the bed remain at his house, today @OldhamCouncil's Saddleworth Library, and also @chethamslibrary.

Great treat to see the precious interiors of Heaton Hall (courtesy of the Friends of) but have the feeling they’re hanging by a thread when most of the building is in such a state of disrepair @HistoricEngland @GeorgianGroup @hbap1924
