The Road to Recovery (R2R) initiative is tackling bird population declines head-on, focusing on species at the "Tipping Point." A new piece in @CornellBirds's #LivingBird mag dives into our work and the science behind it. [🧵1/6] allaboutbirds.org/news/3-bil…
The @CornellBirds piece by @AxelsonGustave
highlights why collaboration—including often-overlooked social sciences—is critical for conservation success. Read it here: allaboutbirds.org/news/3-bil…. Thanks Gustave for the awesome spotlight [🧵5/6]
(🧵1/4) A new study in @SciReports by Earth Commons Assistant Teaching Professor Brian Griffiths showcases years of research into why large #Amazonian mammals like red howler monkeys, pacas, Brazilian porcupines, and tapirs consume soil at mineral licks
(🧵4/4) @Georgetown students don’t just read about cutting-edge research—they contribute to it! this hands-on approach, contributing directly to faculty #research makes the #MSESM program that much more impactful...and, to me, pretty cool
Replying to @PeterPMarra @SciReports
(🧵3/4) What’s even MORE exciting?? Our MS in Environment and Sustainability Management (#MSESM) students worked with this real data as part of their coursework, analyzing patterns and exploring conservation strategies firsthand
Replying to @PeterPMarra @SciReports
(🧵2/4) The study confirms that these mineral licks are vital for the survival of these species. They provide essential nutrients like sodium for frugivores and help herbivores mitigate toxins, sustaining #biodiversity and ecological resilience in the #Amazon 📷
🧵@theearthcommons assistant professor @meganlickley and co-authors just published an important paper in @EGU_ACP showing how high #emissions from feedstocks and aged equipment are delaying ozone recovery earthcommons.georgetown.edu/…
🧵This is exactly why I feel so motivated to help support #environment and #sustainability scholarship at @Georgetown. Subscribe to our newsletter to get GU scholarship updates twice a month! eepurl.com/hSw9pf

In partnership with @theEarthCommons, we hosted @joseandresgroup CEO Sam Bakhshandehpour for a conversation with @ProfAggarwal and @PeterPMarra about how the power of food can be used to change the world. They also discussed the group's committment to developing responsible, sustainable operations.
To close out the evening a reception catered by @jaleo featuring signature Spanish foods was held.
Great story with super imagery! BUT - title is slightly off. Cats are catastrophic everywhere.
