Andrew Bolt, in his typically "I know everything" manner, has repeatedly attacked Ben Roberts Smith. Here is an email that I sent to the Herald Sun that I doubt they'll print. Dear Editor, False claims and false claims There are some notable omissions in Andrew Bolt’s article “False claims must be held to account.” Andrew Hastie’s evidence in the civil trial was hearsay and his personal beliefs. Evidence that will not be admitted in the criminal trial. Perhaps that's why he is so unpopular today. The article states, “an SAS major said four SAS sergeants told him a decade ago Roberts-Smith was unfit to be awarded the Victoria Cross.” More hearsay. Several witnesses were granted immunity from prosecution, which surely tarnishes any evidence that they gave and may give. The International Criminal Court is mentioned several times, but the U.S., China, India, Russia, Israel, Indonesia, and at least 30 other countries do not recognise it. Its officials face sanctions and frozen bank accounts in the U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently vowed to “dismantle” the ICC “brick by brick.” It is a kangaroo court recognised by second- and third-tier countries such as Australia, Afghanistan, South Africa, Belgium, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Nigeria, and others. It is devoid of superpower recognition. The judge who granted Roberts-Smith bail said, "Mr Roberts-Smith will have to face a trial, with a jury, with a unanimous verdict, with a finding of proof beyond reasonable doubt. There can be no way anyone today can predict what the outcome of that trial will be, or when it will, or in fact if it will be." The last seven words are particularly relevant. Hard to believe that anyone could vote for Labor. "Every nation gets the government it deserves" - Joseph de Maistre. No nation or state deserves Labor but it will happen again. The conservatives will make the tough decisions, get the state back on track, become unpopular because of the "tough decisions," then the fuckwits will elect the fuckwits, and so the cycle will begin again.
