🚨🚨 THE ILLEGITIMACY PLAYBOOK / THE DEMOCRACY FILES: A PRIMER 🚨
I will be using this thread to track all drops, so bookmark it.
I spent most of yesterday backing everything (now 312 gigabytes) up in various sources and getting the materials out to others. I also produced an AI video (below) to explain the whole thing to others are not on 𝕏 - feel free to distribute.
Here's the primer:
USAID, the foreign aid agency, had a democracy office. Inside the agency, it was called DRG.
Officially, DRG administered "democracy assistance." They'd go inside countries they thought were sliding into authoritarianism and help the opposition there. That assistance included election monitoring, judicary support, independent media, and civil society building.
You may have heard the term "color revolution." The model comes from Serbia in 2000, where trained student activists brought down Milosevic with the help of Western governments, after sustained protests. With the help of USAID's democracy office, this model was implemented in many other countries to topple governments: Georgia's "Rose Revolution" in 2003, Ukraine's "Orange Revolution" in 2004, and many more.
Then last year, DOGE shut down USAID. But the USAID democracy office didn't stop. They formed a group called the Democracy Renewal Group, the same initials as their office (USAID Democracy, Human Rights, Governance). Their goal: apply their own playbook to the United States itself.
This goal became a plan, called Renew American Democracy (RAD). It invoked the "4 B's" framework. Block - use lawfare and protests to make life harder for the Trump administration. Bridge & Belong - control dialogue and win people over. The final and most important B is Build. Build means redesigning the American government itself, and the crisis is the opening.
In their own words:
"We can take that breakdown moment and leverage it for a big structural reform, you know, refounding moment." - Danielle Reiff, DRG lead.
Calls show DRG working alongside DSA on ideas of creating a different government, one that does away with the Constitution itself.
DRG does not run the Block operations. They hand it to UDA, the United Democracy Alliance. One organizer calls it a "huge galaxy": lawsuits, street protests, non-cooperation. They list No Kings, Indivisible, MoveOn, 50501, and many other mega-activist NGOs among their members.
Another organizer calls UDA Erica Chenoweth's project. Chenoweth is the Harvard professor behind the three-and-half-percent rule of regime change: get that share of a country's populace onto the streets, and historically, the movement wins.
The UDA is very "hush-hush." They have no website, no roster, no filings.
Then come the red lines: things the Trump administration could do, such as calling the Insurrection Act on protesters, that would mean that the federal government, in their words, "crosses the threshold into illegitimacy." Nobody voted on those lines. There was no public debate. These red lines were developed within secretive working groups, and in a paper addressed to governors and staff.
In the words of Reiff/DRG:
"So that if there is a red line crossed in terms of a Constitutional crisis, like everyone's already pre-organized. And so Mike Smith actually said, he goes, oh, you guys have the day after tomorrow plan."
Cross a line, and the paper's options include states refusing to lend their resources to federal officials, and governors convening what it calls a "Third Continential Congress."
Running the UDA's Insurrection Act working group: Rear Admiral Mike Smith (RET) of National Security Leaders of America (NSL4A). NSL4A is also credited with operationalizing UDA, the blocking operations. NSL4A consists of about 1,600 ex-officers, spies, diplomats. They're turning red lines into indicators and running a situation room to monitor them throughout the midterms and beyond.
The NSL4A's lawyers told them to stop recording meetings in case of subpoenas. But the rest of the network continued to record. DRG works in conjunction with Renew to Thrive (R2T), which ended up accidentally publishing 400+ calls and thousands of documents. These calls and documents were never meant for our eyes, but it's them, on tape.
Thousands of NGOs and billions of dollars are involved in this endeavor. Most of them believe they're saving democracy. The problem is that people who spent their careers deciding when other countries' governments had lost their legitimacy wrote that test for ours, in private, and planned for what comes after.
Who decides when your government is legitimate?

This is the real reason the Left is uniting with Islam, and how it’s going to end
“I keep wondering why the left is so obsessed with defending an ideology that would be the first to execute them. Democrats have spent decades fighting for things like women's rights, and yet they defend countries where women are banned from school, where honor killings happen, and where wives have no protection, or no legal protection from abuse.
They wave pride flags at every parade, and yet they defend countries where homosexuality is punishable by death. So what then exactly does the progressive left and these Islamists have in common?
Because on the surface, they agree on literally nothing, except for one thing: They share the same enemy, and that enemy is the West
And the thing is, neither of them can build what they want while the West still stands. So they're kind of working together to tear it down first, and figure the rest out later.
The Marxist thinks he's using the Islamists to do the heavy lifting. The useful idiots vote them in, platform them, defend them, and launder every atrocity as resistance. And what awaits them when the job is done is something history has already shown us.
Iran, 1977, the Marxists and Islamists united to overthrow the Shah. The moment they won, the Islamists executed every single leftist who helped bring them to power: jailed, tortured, or gone. The left handed them the revolution and got a bullet for it”
“But they can't do that here because nobody's starving. The thing about socialist revolutions is they need desperation, whether it's famine or disease, and that's not America, so they need a different strategy.
Because here's what the left has been doing in the meantime. They have become a laundering service, and what I mean by that is the West won't naturally accept an ideology that is openly intolerant. We're a tolerant society, which is our weakness and our strength.
So every time there's a terrorist attack, it becomes an act of resistance. Every massacre becomes a natural reaction to imperialism or colonialism or whatever. They don't defend the ideology directly, they just make the atrocity make sense to you over and over until your moral framework shifts without you noticing.
KGB defector, Yuri Bezmenov, called this demoralization. You don't need to win a revolution if you can get people to abandon their own values first.
It starts with murdering civilians is wrong. Then it becomes, were those civilians really innocent given the history of colonialism? You don't need an Islamic conquest by force when you can walk it in through the front door of compassion….
And the left will be the last to realize what they helped build right up until they're the first against the wall.”
There is literally no other way this ends except exactly how this describes. It’s the same story that’s played out again and again and again
And the crazy thing is, the Islamists don’t even hide this is what they’re doing, they openly say they’re using the Left until enough of them get into power
We have to stop it because if we let liberals bring America down and face an Islamic Revolution, they bring us down with them

this is a great read by jack morris. gives such a fresh perspective on what really matters.
TLDR: with every "new" architecture, we unlocked a new source of data to use at scale. it was the large amount of data we unlocked that boosted performance not the architecture itself, and videos are the next big thing to harness.
2012: alexnet unlocked the entire imagenet dataset
2017: transformers unlocked the entire internet (as text)
2022: RLHF unlocked learning from humans
2024: reasoning unlocked learning from verifiers
2026: ???
when you look at progress this way, it becomes very very clear what the next pillar to unlock is: videos. or more specifically, youtube.
youtube stores an insane amount of video data. people upload 720.000 hours of videos to the platform every single day. thats 4.3 Petabytes of new data every day that need to be stored. for comparison, currently models are trained on a few terabytes of text.
this means that the data uploaded to youtube daily is 1000x the data used to train a typical LLM.
once we come up with an architecture that can harness videos at scale, we will see the next big jump in our quest to AGI

Best AI hack I’ve used recently.
Take a pen and paper (I know bare with me)
And on one page write everything that is works for you in life.
What sleep routine works best
What diet works best
What systems give you the most leverage
What systems makes you the most money
Anything and Everything that gives you a positive ROI in life.
Then take another piece of paper and write everything that doesn’t work for you.
Bad Habits
Foods that make you sluggish
Things that piss you off.
Then take a picture of these two pieces of paper and put it into your LLM and prompt it.
‘Review these two brain dumps, one is everything that works for me and one is everything that dosent.
Based on this Create me a daily structured scheduled plan of what i should be doing every 30 mins of the day to ensure I am doing and focussing things that generate me positive results, and avoiding things that give me negative results.
Align the tasks and schedules with my natural energy rhythms.’
Follow it religiously and the results of your life will sky rocket.
