Appreciated the opportunity to connect with voters Tuesday at the Franklin Township GOP Candidate Night!
Fed up? You can still be a good Democrat and want to send a message to criminals. Vote Foust for Prosecutor.
🦗🦗 Crickets on my debate challenge. @ryanmearsindy won't face me because I will hold his feet to the fire on his record, his habitual attempts to mislead the public, and his barely hidden campaign for mayor next year.
Fed Up?
You don’t have to tell Sharon from book club. We just need an actual prosecutor.
Vote Foust.
Ryan Mears knocked on doors with The Democrats of Speedway leadership, who recently promoted Democratic Socialism.
@ryanmearsindy , will you admit you support it too?
The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) political platform states: “For all of the working class to achieve collective liberation we must constrain, diminish, and abolish the carceral forces of the state — from prisons and police themselves, to their manifestations in all forms throughout society.”
It also calls for “Freedom for all incarcerated people.”
The average Speedway Democrat is Fed Up with this radical agenda. Vote for Foust to get an actual prosecutor instead of an activist. – at Speedway, IN
.@ryanmearsindy is knocking on doors with The Democrats of Speedway today. If Mears shows up at your door, here are some questions worth asking:
1. Why won’t you debate Philip Foust and defend your record in public?
2. Why won’t you pledge to serve the full term if re-elected? Are you running for mayor next year?
3. You said you would prosecute Julian Wachner’s child sex abuse material case aggressively but didn’t even ask for prison time. Why?
4. When you tout a 90% murder trial conviction rate, which cases aren’t even filed? How many of those “convictions” were to lesser included charges?
5. Why would you offer a plea that did not require prison time to a gang member who shot up a house with a child inside?
6. You say you spent your whole career in the Prosecutor’s Office. Why are you trying to hide that you were a defense attorney too?
7. How many expungements have you signed off on for your former clients?
8. How many convicted felons did your office reach out to in prison to initiate sentence modifications so they could get out early?
9. Why did you dismantle the domestic violence unit?
10. Why have you turned off comments on your Facebook posts?
Voters deserve straight answers. – at Speedway, IN
Fed up? Soft on crime Mears is a defense attorney in prosecutor's clothing.
I sat down with @tonykatz on @93wibc to talk about why Marion County needs an actual prosecutor who cares more about victims than coddling criminals.
Seven years of this ideological experiment is enough. Indy deserves better.

Door knocking in Decatur and Washington Townships this past week! Thank you to Congressman Jefferson Shreve, AG Todd Rokita, City-County Councilor Josh Masquelier, congressional candidate Patrick McAuley, Trustee Jason Holiday, and all of our amazing volunteers.
Marion County Deserves a prosecutor who will stand for victims and work alongside law enforcement. Thanks to @hammerandnigel on @93wibc for a conversation with Tony Samuel, and to the @IndyFOP86 for their support.
Great evening at the Marion County GOP Fall Dinner. Thank you to everyone who came out, shared a meal, and talked about building a safer, saner Marion County. Enjoyed the conversations, the support, and the chance to speak with so many dedicated neighbors and leaders. Let’s keep the momentum going!🇺🇸
Mears's Bait & Switch! I signed a pledge to the voters of Marion County: As your Prosecutor, I will serve the full four-year term. Ryan Mears won't even rule out filing for mayor just days after his new term would start. You deserve a Prosecutor focused on the work, not a candidate killing time.

Philip Foust for Marion County Prosecutor retweeted
IndyStar asked if @ryanmearsindy is soft on crime. Then they published 3,000 words without the data they said would answer the question.
The true test is prison time in plea agreements, cases he does and doesn’t file, and what Mears counts as a “conviction” when touting his murder trial rate. HINT: it is not always a conviction for murder. It is also in a thousand other decisions that show whether the elected prosecutor cares more about criminals than victims: whether to pursue sentencing enhancements, whether to move to revoke bond when a defendant picks up a new case, how hard to argue a probation violation, whether to oppose expungement of a criminal record, and on and on.
I’ve served as a deputy prosecutor, and I know what it means to really fight for victims. That’s not what Mears is doing.
The IndyStar reporters said sentencing data was the first thing they wanted, but then said it “is not data that’s centrally tracked” and “it’s just not tracked.” They ran the piece without it. As the Wachner child-sexual-abuse-material case showed, what you actually need are the terms of the plea agreements. Ryan Mears has those terms. Hand them over. Wachner also showed you cannot trust Mears’s version of what happens in the courtroom. When the press pulled the record, it was a DIFFERENT story: his office did not ask for prison for a teacher who bought horrific infant pornography.
“Not tracked” is not the same as “the data does not exist.” IndyStar treated that gap as proof the criticism is bogus rather than questioning why Mears is not transparent.
That is not an investigation of his record. That is an investigation of the numbers he will let you see.
Ryan Mears knows his misleading claims and his lack of transparency will not hold up to real scrutiny from someone who knows that office inside and out — like me. That is why he hides behind opaque stories about data that supposedly is not tracked — data his office controls. THAT IS WHY HE WILL NOT DEBATE.
Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears has been accused of handing out "sweetheart" plea deals. We analyzed 220,000 cases to see what the data shows. indystar.com/story/news/inve…
