Not just impeachment.
Hegseth deserves to go to the Haig.
🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 Massie is forcing a vote to impeach Pete Hegseth next week... and Republicans tell CNN it’s going to PASS
Massie triggers the vote when the House returns, and GOP sources expect their own majority to let it through, which would make Hegseth the first cabinet secretary impeached since 1876, by his own party.
The case from inside the GOP: he sold Trump a fast, easy war with no exit and kept pushing escalation after the bombing stopped working.
One administration official’s verdict:
“I think he probably knows he’s dead but would like an exit sufficiently dramatic that it gives him a launching pad to run for POTUS.”
Trump isn’t there yet.
He told Hegseth days ago “you’re the best guy I have,” and a Democratic Senate won’t confirm a replacement.

When you listen to James Talarico, you realize that last night's results were not just a rejection of Trump and Israel's Iran war, but also a rejection of a Democratic Party led by people like Biden, Blinken, and Sullivan:
"I've never taken money from AIPAC, and I'm not taking money from AIPAC in this campaign. Seeing what's happening in Gaza makes me sick to my stomach as a teacher, as a Christian, as a human being"
This is his message, and he won in Texas!

The Democrats may have taken control of the House and the Senate, they may have humiliated Donald Trump and the Republican Party, but the real fight is only beginning. It is not simply a battle to hold the corrupt Trump regime to account, something that can only be done if the Democrats are willing overcome their reluctance to carry out impeachment proceedings against the president. It is also a battle to sweep away the corporate-indentured hierarchy of the Democratic Party, including Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries.
The Democratic Party since the presidency of Bill Clinton, who gave us the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), the greatest betrayal of the working class since the 1947 Taft-Hartley Act, and gutted New Deal-era welfare programs such as the Aid to Families with Dependent Children, is a more polished version of corporate and oligarchic rule, abjectly subservient to the war machine, the Israel lobby and their funders in the billionaire class.
The country is broken. Corruption, in both parties, is endemic. Federal agencies have been hollowed out and destroyed. The courts, including the Supreme Court, have been handed over to right-wing ideologues. The working class is crippled with debt peonage and substandard wages. Constitutional norms and protections have been erased. Billionaires, including Trump, pay little to no income tax. The 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court ruling, which allows big business to fund their hand-picked candidates, sustains a system of legalized bribery.
The public may clamor for a raise in the minimum wage, Medicare for All, regulation of the big banks and private equity firms, an end to arms shipments to Israel and campaign finance reform, but no one in the leadership of the Democratic Party listens or cares. They serve their paymasters.
Will cutthroat capitalism, sold to us under the sanitized name of neoliberalism, be allowed to continue to impoverish the citizenry and funnel wealth upwards into the hands of the 1 percent? Will corporations be regulated and policed? Will corporate criminals be brought to trial? Will our democracy be restored? Or will the grotesque sight of a trillionaire, Elon Musk, gutting federal agencies and pouring hundreds of millions into elections to try and control the outcome be normalized?
The handful of politicians who attempt to confront the corruption and the devastation visited on the American working class through deindustrialization and deregulation, such as Bernie Sanders, see their campaigns sabotaged by the Democratic Party leadership, including Barack Obama.
We must demand that progressive candidates, including Michigan senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed and Maine’s Troy Jackson, build coalitions to oust the Democratic Party leadership, raise the minimum wage, enact universal health care, prosecute corporate crime and impeach Trump. It will be up to us.
The Democratic Party hierarchy will see the results not as a repudiation of Trump, but an endorsement of the flaccid and ineffectual position of a party that stands for little and fights for less. This would be yet another betrayal by the Democrats of voters. It would keep alive the very real prospect of another fascist, one better organized and more intelligent, taking the White House in two years.
Of course, this fight will mean not only jettisoning a corrupt Democratic Party leadership, but turning on the mega-donors, lobbyists and corporations that fund and control the Democratic Party.
The effort to wrest the party back from the hands of corporations and oligarchs will be vicious and difficult. It will require us to rely on the power of mass movements to sever these bonds. Nothing else will work.
If we fail, our anemic democracy will not be saved by these midterm elections, but doomed.

The secret Azov prison discovered yesterday in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, near Kyiv, is known in the Ukrainian Armed Forces as a “pit” (yama). Such facilities have existed in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, just as they have in the Russian army, for a very long time. This is a systemic phenomenon.
The Ukrainian news outlet Strana published an article about these “pits” in the Ukrainian military. Below, I provide some representative quotations.
“In each military unit, the pits took different forms — from ordinary damp basements in urban buildings or cellars in rural areas to actual pits dug two or three meters deep, covered with metal grates or loosely spaced logs.
Initially, those most frequently sent to the ‘pits’ were soldiers who had committed disciplinary offenses — drinking alcohol, using drugs, fighting, or stealing. With the beginning of the full-scale war, however, the system of unofficial military punishments became even more widespread.
This was particularly true after 2023, when the first wave of motivated volunteers joining the Ukrainian Armed Forces had dried up and the Territorial Recruitment Centers (TCCs) began widespread ‘busification’ — the forcible rounding up of conscripts for military service.
In their efforts to meet recruitment quotas, military recruitment officers sent virtually anyone into the Defense Forces, including people with chronic illnesses, men with mental health conditions, alcoholics, and drug addicts.
🔴‘At our location, there is a place resembling a “pit.” In reality, it is just a small room with bars on the windows. Soldiers who, in the opinion of their superiors, have done something wrong are brought there.
At night, guards rush into the room and brutally beat the prisoners.
For example, a fellow soldier of mine simply asked to be sent to the medical unit because he was ill and refused to deploy to combat positions on a combat mission. He was thrown into this pit for three days. Every night, he was beaten, and several of his ribs were broken.
The man who beat him was the pit’s permanent guard. He essentially serves as its resident torturer.
The goal is to break a person's will and force him to obey any order without question. And, of course, to intimidate everyone else so that they would not even think about standing up for their rights or deserting their unit,’ a serviceman from one of the assault regiments told Strana.
🔴‘Military pits almost never have toilets. At best, a bucket is provided for bodily needs. Sometimes it overflows, but the prisoners are not allowed to empty it. The stench and lack of fresh air only amuse the guards.
There are also actual cages outdoors. Being put in one is genuine torture. You cannot stand upright; you can only sit on a wooden platform, without even a blanket, exposed to the elements.
People are reduced to an animal-like state there. They are beaten every night.
After a couple of days of such abuse, anyone sent there is ready to do absolutely anything, including being deployed to combat positions with no “return ticket.”
The prisoners who have been broken the most are assigned the most dangerous missions — places from which they are unlikely to return, sent under drone fire into the gray zones of the battlefield, or dispatched on the deadliest reconnaissance missions and assaults.
People in these pits are psychologically broken by torture. That is why the system of “pits” continues to flourish. The army has yet to come up with another way to break people’s will,’ said Ukrainian Armed Forces Sergeant Vyacheslav V.”
🔴An officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Dmytro S., who spoke to Strana, believes that even after the current scandal involving Azov’s secret prison, nothing will change regarding the use of so-called “pits” — makeshift detention facilities used to punish soldiers.
“We are being sent completely unmotivated recruits. Many of them are simply homeless people, alcoholics, or people with serious illnesses. At the same time, frankly speaking, the likelihood of being killed on the front line is high. Especially if your unit has been ordered to carry out an assault.
That is why we have such an enormous number of cases of soldiers going AWOL (absent without leave) and outright refusing to obey orders.
Going through official channels to initiate disciplinary or criminal proceedings is an extremely long and cumbersome process. More importantly, you lose the soldier — he ends up going through the courts and prisons. But you need fighters here and now.
That is why soldiers are thrown into these ‘pits’ — to force them to obey orders and to serve as a warning to others.
There have already been reports about abuses, beatings, and torture in certain assault units. Do you think anything has changed there? Fundamentally, nothing has changed.
You can talk endlessly about human rights and design all kinds of oversight mechanisms. But if you are ordered to launch an offensive against some village while under drone attacks, you have to carry out that order at any cost.
And to do that, you have to force people to go on the attack, even when they know they might be killed.
That is why these ‘pits’ exist and will continue to exist as long as the war goes on. To get rid of the ‘pits,’ the war has to end.
And if the war continues, the situation will only get worse — the methods of coercion are becoming increasingly sophisticated.
This is also a strategic problem: commanders are becoming accustomed to solving problems through unchecked violence and lawlessness.
And there is a risk that they will carry these practices over into civilian life once the war is over.
The longer the war continues, the more acute this problem will become,” the officer said.

Yesterday, Budanov was apparently so rattled by reports that ordinary citizens had uncovered a secret Azov prison where newly mobilized men and deserters were tortured — that he miraculously rediscovered his native tongue: Russian.
And what a linguistic homecoming it was! He spoke Russian almost the entire time.
“Давайте понемножку расходиться. Огромное дело сделали” (“Let's start heading home, folks. We've done a tremendous job”), Budanov declared in Russian before leaving the scene.
As a Ukrainian citizen, I demand an IMMEDIATE response from the Ukrainian Language Ombudsman!
No to “Muscovite gibberish” in Ukraine! No to the “language of the occupier”! No to that dreaded “pig-dog speak”!
Fine Budanov several months' worth of his salary for this outrageous act of linguistic treason against the sacred principles of Ukrainian language purity!
And please, put that money to good use: enroll Zelensky and his entire Presidential Office in intensive Ukrainian-language courses. Preferably with mandatory attendance, surprise grammar tests, and no diplomatic immunity from conjugation.
Priorities, ladies and gentlemen. Priorities.
Long live the flourishing of Ukrainian — the most melodious language in the world!

Azov commander Denys Prokopenko, aka Redis, has finally come to his senses — and promptly accused those who exposed Azov’s secret prison in Petropavlivska Borshchahivka, near Kyiv, of “working for the Kremlin,” “smearing the military,” and “sabotage.”
See how beautifully this works?
The villains aren't the ones committing war crimes against their own citizens — torturing and maiming men who refuse to die, kill, or obey suicidal orders.
No, no. The real criminals are the victims.
Now we're just waiting for the cherry on top: “high treason” charges for the whole lot.
And who was it that said Azov holds no power in Ukraine?
Oh, it does. And that power comes courtesy of Brussels — generously funded and conveniently overlooked.
Slava Ukraini!?
