We need a more modern view of palliative care:
Make it early
Make it interdiciplinary
Make it basic - specialized palliative are is only needed in the few.

I just finished 2 weeks of rounding on a medicine service. Pro-tip: send your students to watch/learn from their patients’ procedures. H&Ps are a dime a dozen while encounters with subspecialists may impact a career decision.
Case in point: an EGD/ERCP opened my eyes to GI 💩
4 years ago I got randomly assigned to an inpatient GI service as a 3rd year med student... I am so excited to share that I matched at UPMC @PittGILiverNutr! Also biggest shout out to the most supportive family, friends, mentors, and my @PittIMChiefs fam who also matched today 🥳
