Victoria Votes 2026 ☞ LAND TAX 🤬 It's not just property owners being punished by land tax. Renters cop it too. Rents are going through the roof. But don't blame landlords. They can hardly keep their heads above water. Many are selling, and when they do, that's one less rental property. Over time, this means longer rental queues and higher rents. If you rent or own property — or want to own property — then maybe you should help elect a candidate who wants to abolish unfair legacy taxes — like land tax and stamp duty. STAMP DUTY (Land Transfer Tax) If you buy an $800K home, you pay an additional $47,000 in stamp duty (tax). Why? For what? You already pay the wages of the people processing the paperwork. They're being paid to do a job — process the land transfer. Do you think anyone would pay you if you invoiced them twice for the same job? Probably not. Stamp duty is another unfair legacy tax. At best, there should be a $500 filing fee to transfer land. Talk to candidates. If they lack the courage to want to abolish these unfair legacy taxes, then you might consider looking elsewhere. #vicvotes #Election2026
