Although icons are not used by the Assyrian Church of the East, the Eucharist is considered the visible representation of Christ's humanity and called the "beautiful icon". The Eucharist is the true image of Christ.
"I will extol you, my Lord, the King! On the holy altar is placed the beautiful icon, the body of our Savior. The priest in contemplation hangs his eyes to heaven and there comes into his hands the gift [which] atones for the sins of his flock so his ministry may be without blemish."

The Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine has accused the Moscow Patriarchate of Pharisaism and the glorification of the Antichrist.
In a sermon delivered on November 1, Metropolitan Epiphanius (Dumenko), Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine, accused the Moscow Patriarchate of Pharisaism.
“The spirit of Pharisaism and legalism continues to divide the Church in our own time. It is precisely this spirit of archaic legalism that has gripped the followers of the Moscow Patriarchate—those who sow division within the Church. They reject faith as the foundation of ecclesial unity, substituting it with their own rules and prescriptions—much like the adversaries of the Apostle Paul, who insisted that the primary mark of belonging was not faith in Christ, but the ancient rite of circumcision. They place devotion to the ‘Moscow throne’ above devotion to the Cross of Christ. Consequently, they reject many fellow Christians—and even their own Mother Church, the Church of Constantinople—while simultaneously extolling a modern-day, bloodthirsty Antichrist who rules over the Russian ‘empire of evil.’ They align themselves with all those who share his mindset, regardless of their actual confession of faith—a fact made abundantly clear by their actions. They have replaced the conciliarity of Christ’s Church with a ‘World Russian Council’; instead of peace, they offer blessings for war; and they have swapped the Cross of Christ for the letter ‘Z’ and a blood-stained sword—a sword they have raised against their own brothers, intent on killing them, just as Cain killed Abel.”

Russia will not win.
„UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband confronted Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the G20 foreign ministers’ meeting, accusing Moscow of having no intention of ending its war against Ukraine and warning that Russia would not win.
“We all know who the aggressor is in this war. Just yesterday, Russian drones attacked and killed 15 people at a railway station in Dnipro. And there are countless examples of you killing innocent civilians throughout this entire war. We all know that you are the aggressor,” Miliband said, according to Sky News.
He added that Russian leader Vladimir Putin had expected to win the war quickly but had underestimated Ukraine’s resistance and international support.
“Putin thought he would win this war easily. But you will not win this war. Thanks to the courage of the Ukrainian people and the solidarity of the nations represented at this table, you will not win,” Miliband said.
He urged Lavrov to acknowledge that Russia could not achieve victory and convey that message to Putin.
“If you had the courage to tell the truth and do the right thing, you would tell Putin that he is not winning this war and will not win it,” he added.
Following the meeting, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said Lavrov had made numerous false and distorted statements but showed no willingness to engage in peace negotiations.
“Even if the Russians claim otherwise in words, their actions suggest otherwise. Russia must prove through its actions that it is ready for negotiations,” Kallas told AFP.
She pointed to the large number of Ukrainian civilians killed in Russian attacks during July, August and September, calling for continued pressure on Moscow, particularly to secure a ceasefire in the Black Sea.
Asked why she had not taken a joint photo with Lavrov, Kallas replied: “We must not normalize war crimes at this table.”

Remember Kostyantyn Vlasenko, the soldier from Ukraine’s 30th Mechanized who was recently rescued from the battlefield in a spectacular evacuation using a drone?
Today, he was awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine.
For 491 days, since June 2025, he had continuously held his position near the village of Senkivka in Kharkiv Oblast, carrying out missions. For 232 of those days, he was completely alone, after his fellow soldier was killed while attempting to withdraw.
After being severely wounded, he was forced to amputate his own feet with a knife. Yet he remained in radio contact, continued relaying vital battlefield intelligence, and received food and medical supplies delivered by drones.
Finally, in October 2026, after numerous failed attempts to rescue him, he was successfully evacuated from the battlefield using a heavy-lift drone, in what was the first rescue operation of its kind in history.

Russia continues to destroy Christianity in Ukraine: shelling in Kramatorsk has damaged two Orthodox churches and a Caritas Catholic center.
On October 25, Russian attacks in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk damaged the Orthodox churches of the Intercession of the Theotokos and Saint Nicholas. At the former, the central dome and roof were damaged, windows and doors were blown out, shrapnel struck the Royal Doors in the right-hand side chapel, and the church grounds were also damaged. The Church of Saint Nicholas was struck by a drone, leaving a hole approximately one meter in diameter in the roof.
Additionally, on October 17, a strike by guided aerial bombs damaged the local office of the Catholic charity organization Caritas. The building’s facade, walls, interior spaces, and metal roof were damaged, and an explosion crater formed nearby. On the same day, a Russian munition struck an adjacent nine-story residential building.
Christians Worshipped Here—Until Russia Came
On October 18, the "Good News" church building in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast, sustained severe damage following a Russian strike.
In the 1990s, a former Soviet-era building became a church for a Pentecostal congregation, a place where thousands of people were introduced to the Christian faith. That was the case until the arrival of Russian forces.
This is the second—and more destructive—instance of damage to the church building. On June 30, three Russian guided aerial bombs struck the church grounds; at that time, the interior was damaged, windows were blown out, and a portion of the ceiling collapsed. Now, the building has been struck once again.

I’m deeply alarmed by Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank.
Settlements are expanding, evictions are unrelenting with Palestinians driven from their lands, settler violence is surging, Palestinian families are being assaulted.
We are seeing an increasingly coercive environment, with the spectre of ethnic cleansing looming ever larger.
This must end.
There can be no durable peace in the Middle East without the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination.

The situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory is out of control.
In Gaza, essential aid is still being severely restricted by Israel.
In the occupied West Bank, Palestinians continue to suffer daily attacks by Israeli settlers and journalists & diplomats are being attacked.
There must be a credible political path towards lasting peace, ending the occupation and realizing a two-State solution, with Israel & Palestine living side by side in peace & security.
"Diplomatic equivalent of a blowjob": US and British politicians shocked by Witkoff’s fawning over Putin
📍US Senator John Cornyn:
No. Putin is a cold-blooded killer.
📍US Senator Thom Tillis:
WTF, Steve? Look up the definition of the word “humanist.” You should go to Ukraine and ask the families of those children whom Putin kidnapped and killed…
📍British politician Sir Conor Burns:
Words fail me. This man is a murderous invader, and this helpless person is giving him the diplomatic equivalent of a blowjob!
📍US Senator Dick Durbin:
Calling the war criminal Vladimir Putin a “humanist” is a disgrace to the tens of thousands of Ukrainian soldiers and civilians whom Putin has killed during his brutal war.
📍Tom Tugendhat, British politician:
President Putin is a murderer. His soldiers use rape as a weapon… Russia today is what President Reagan correctly called: the evil empire.
📍Joanne Carducci, American political commentator:
Actually, Steve — Putin is a war criminal. Just like Trump.

Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has accused the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church of the heresy of justifying war.
In an interview with Byron Karydis for Books’ Journal, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew addresses Russian church officials’ stance on the war, criticizing the conflict’s theological justification and support for the military invasion.
“The Russian military invasion laid bare the hypocrisy of those Russian ecclesiastical figures who claimed to care for the Orthodox faithful in Ukraine. Without a shred of shame, they proclaimed to the entire world their heretical views and theories regarding war. They dubbed it "holy," sought to provide it with a theological and metaphysical foundation, and blessed the fire directed at the Ukrainian people—the very people whom, prior to the invasion, they had called their "brothers," while all the while—with a diabolical intent—insisting that they remain under their spiritual tutelage, or rather, subjugated to the ethno-phyletic ideology of the "Russian World."”

Venäjähän on itse aloittanut Euroopan suurimman hyökkäyssodan vuosikymmeniin.
Samaan aikaan Zelenskyi on ilmoittanut Ukrainan olevan valmis jäädyttämään sodan nykyisille rintamalinjoille.

Hegseth on Afghanistan:
I was a captain in Afghanistan, and we would go to the headquarters in Kabul, and there would be 50 flags at the headquarters.
It was a beautiful thing to see 50 different countries contributing to the NATO alliance and the ISAF mission there.
Except there were like maybe five that contributed. It was actually closer to one or two that, by the end, were actually involved in kinetic operations.
In fact, the ISAF patch, we would joke that it meant "I Saw Americans Fighting."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Over 1100 non-American soldiers from 31 US-allied countries were killed fighting in Afghanistan, approximately 1/3 of the total combat deaths.

Yesterday, the Russians carried out one of their largest attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector – more than 15 critical power generation and transmission facilities were targeted across different regions of Ukraine. Restoration work is ongoing, with all necessary services and all available resources of Ukrainian energy companies involved. I thank everyone working practically nonstop to restore power.
The most difficult situation was in Lutsk, Rivne, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Shepetivka, Slavuta, and Netishyn. Energy facilities in the Kharkiv, Kyiv, Dnipro, and other regions were also hit. The Russians have scaled up their anti-energy operation and are trying to stretch our reserves and repair capabilities as thin as possible. Between 7 p.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today alone, more than 320 jet-powered and gasoline-powered “shaheds,” along with loitering munitions, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles, were used against our energy sector, our cities, and our communities. And although our warriors are shooting down a significant number of them, the sheer scale and unrelenting pace of Russia’s strikes, specifically against our energy sector, are unfortunately having severe consequences.
It is important that our European partners have already prepared new support packages for Ukraine. I am grateful to them for this. And it is important that everyone in America also sees what is really happening. At a time when the Russians have carried out such a massive attack on our energy sector, a decision was unfortunately made in America to completely disregard the Lindsey Graham Act, which was supposed to impose truly effective pressure on Russia to bring this war to an end. This Act could have helped enormously – and still can! But it needs to actually work, and every voice in support of it matters.
Russia is trying to cause a blackout in Ukraine – right before winter. Russia is trying to leave millions of our people without electricity and heating. Pressure is needed to stop this. A U.S. sanctions blackout, easing pressure on the aggressor, financial rewards for Putin – all of this only encourages him to keep attacking. We must not give up ground. We must keep trying to end the war. To end it, not give Putin every reason to continue it indefinitely. I thank everyone who is truly fighting for peace and helping Ukraine!
