Bridgeport, if you know where to go, has several delightful places and it’s a result of bad governance that it isn’t in better shape.
Some hidden New England gems: Conn. - Bridgeport R.I. - Woonsocket Mass. - Springfield Vt. - Bellows Falls N.H. - Manchester Me. - Lewiston

Connecticut has the highest cost of electricity in the nation, is dependent on natural gas, and decided to handicap itself from renewable energy for no practical gain I feel like I've read this before
i am going to become a single issue voter, and my issue is repealing C.G.S. § 22a-136

Hurrah! Hurrah! We bring the jubilee! Hurrah! Hurrah! The flag that makes you free! So we sang the chorus from Atlanta to the sea! While we were marching through Georgia!

It's inspiring to see what a Princeton man can do when he puts his mind to it.
They broke Eisenhower’s globe because they didn’t want to wait for a team of specialist historians to move it. I cannot think of a more apt metaphor for Pete Hegseth’s DoD.

In a more religious age we’d have seen this, rightfully, as God sending us a message.
WaPo: Pete Hegseth wanted Eisenhower’s globe for his office. His staff broke it. Photos obtained by The Post show a gash in the World War II-era artifact that resulted from a botched relocation attempt inside the Pentagon. Link to article: washingtonpost.com/national-…

During his time as governor of NY, William Seward lauded the efforts of three freedmen who had attempted to bring a slave out of bondage as “humane” and “praiseworthy”. He was labelled a “bigoted New England fanatic” by Democratic “papers”. I hope to earn a similar moniker!

Fun Fact: Chris Christie received more votes than Vivek in the 2024 GOP primary.
He was too early for us to understand.

How it feels to be a Republican in Connecticut. (Thought about adding Weicker and Rowland but we usually don’t talk about them particularly fondly)

This account is pro-property tax. It has been a mainstay of the Anglo-American tradition since William the Conqueror. Property taxes are a local method to collect taxes, & provide for local services that benefit the community writ-large. If you are a property owner, pay it.

For a Congressman to see his branch, the branch charged with the most authority, trampled by the Executive with such glee is disgusting. A disease ridden, incontinent, rat would be a more fitting Congressman as it at least would have the decency not to pretend it wasn’t a rat.
I was one of only 7 republicans to vote against the short-sighted Lindsay Graham sanctions bill. Glad to see Trump has used the executive authority granted to him by Congress to waive almost all of the provisions of this stupid law that pertain to Russia. abcnews.com/Politics/house-p…

Reading about Salmon Chase and I think he’d be a hit among Zoomers. Anytime he succeeded in anything he immediately thought that he’d failed because he could’ve done better. That’s a type of self loathing that seems to resonate today.
